Last year, one of the stars of TLC‘s Little People, Big World, Amy Roloff, got engaged to her boyfriend of three years Chris Marek. And while the news of their engagement might be old news, how she told one of her sons, Zach Roloff and his wife Tori Roloff has recently been revealed.
As Zach explained during the latest episode of their reality show, he had one rule when it came to filming, and it’s been the same rule for the last 15 years. However, when his mom decided to share the big news with her son, Zach admitted Amy broke that rule and he was not happy about it.

While having coffee with Tori and Zach, Amy began their conversation by talking about a party Zach was throwing and the closing date on her new house. And while both Tori and Zach seemed excited about that step in her life, they were very obviously taken aback when she dropped the news of her engagement on them.
Zach Roloff Gets Upset With Mom Over Engagement News
“Well besides a house and all the other stuff happening in my life, there’s other news I got to tell you about. I’m engaged,” Amy told Tori and Zach. To which Tori responded by saying, “What?” And Zach just sat there quietly. “Uh, Chris proposed to me yesterday. For our third year anniversary,” Amy explained to a stunned Tori and Zach.
“After I told Zach and saw his reaction, I was surprised and not,” Amy said of her son’s reaction. “I was surprised because I thought he would at least say congratulations or something like that. But I wasn’t surprised because I thought, he might not be ready to hear news like this. And it was literally a shock because nobody expected it. I really felt bad because he was obviously quite surprised.”
But in his own confessional, Zach admitted that his reaction wasn’t because he wasn’t happy for his mom. His reaction was meant to show his disappointment over his mom breaking his one rule.
“I told my mom and dad, ‘Hey, these are one things I don’t want to talk about on camera. My one out of bounds is your guys’ relationship and if that relationship goes anywhere else beyond where it is right now. I don’t want to be surprised by any news of those relationships on camera,'” the father of two explained. “And then she went on camera and surprised me with that news.”
Zach concluded his reasoning by saying, “We’ve been doing this for 15 years. I’ve shown some of my most difficult and awkward moments of my life. There’s just been one thing that entire time that I asked my parents do with me in private and my mom couldn’t remember. It’s like no I’m not putting up with it.”

At the time, Roloff revealed that she and Chris were planning on a small wedding in 2021. She added that she just hopes her family continues to welcome Chris into the family and for them to keep being apart of it all.
