It took more than 10 years and 13 miscarriages for Laura Worsley, 35, to see her dream of having a child realized. The UK mom worked with a team of doctors on a new treatment, however, that resulted in a viable pregnancy on her 14th try. Worsley gave birth to a healthy, beautiful daughter, Ivy, in September 2018 at 30 weeks. A miracle baby, indeed!
“It feels like all of my Christmases have come at once,” Worsley told SWNS.

Prior to Ivy’s birth, Worsley had given up hope of ever having a baby. “It was all I lived for – I lost years of my life. I just thought, if I can’t have a baby I don’t see the point in my life,” Worsley shared.
Worsley and her husband, Dave, 38, struggled to understand why couldn’t conceive. The couple experienced their first miscarriage in 2008, followed by another two miscarriages over the next two years. “We took part in trials, did all the tests and tried different medications, hoping something would work,” Worsley shared.
After so many years of trying, Worsley began working with a medical research team at the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire. While working with the team, Worsley participated in “world-leading” miscarriage research. It was discovered that she has sticky blood syndrome, as well as chronic histiocytic intervillositis, both of which can cause recurring miscarriages.
Based on what the team of doctors learned about in previous pregnancies, they put her on a steroid during her 14th pregnancy. The hope was that the steroids would lead to a viable pregnancy.
Baby Ivy was healthy enough to go home after 11 weeks. “I cannot thank the research and the maternity teams at University Hospital enough. They have helped me to have the baby I always dreamt of,” she said.
Congratulations, mama Laura! After everything you’ve gone through, we’re so happy you finally have your beautiful miracle baby!
