Everyone loves a good pregnancy announcement, but some people think reality TV star Whitney Leavitt might’ve taken hers a bit too far.
The 31-year-old ‘MomTok’ star went viral a few weeks ago when she revealed she was pregnant to her family by placing her positive pregnancy test inside of a cake.
The viral moment was recorded and shared with the world during an episode of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” which premiered on Sept. 6.
In a new interview with The Cut, Leavitt defended her decision and even poked fun at the moment.
“I get how people were like, Ew. Maybe people tried to stay away and not eat the pieces surrounding the test, but that cake was good,” she said, confirming that they did, in fact, eat the controversial cake.
She also argued that she “Cloroxed the heck out of it” and “put the lid back on it,” further emphasizing that the pregnancy test “was clean” before she put it in the cake. “So yeah, we did eat the cake.”
Leavitt’s family was visibly and audibly disgusted
In the show, Leavitt is sitting at a table with her family when they start cutting into the floral-decorated cake. At the time, they didn’t know she was pregnant and had no inclination of what would happen next.
After a minute of trying to dig the mysterious item out of the cake, her family finally realizes what it is and immediately questions her for putting the “pee stick” into the cake.
“Oh my God, that is disgusting. Why did you put that in the cake?” Leavitt’s sister, Lexi, asks as her father digs it out with his bare hands. Even with a lid, Lexi was worried about the potential germs and residue.

During a confessional, a producer asks Leavitt if it was “THE” pee stick. She confirmed that it was, but also admitted that she “didn’t really think it fully, thoroughly, clearly.” Still, she argued that the lid was on.
Many viewers took to social media to share their disbelief over the unique and unusual pregnancy reveal.
“I’m watching Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and I’m sorry, DID WHITNEY PUT THE ACTUAL USED PREGNANCY TEST IN THE CAKE??? THE PEE STICK. THE PEE STICK?????” one fan wrote on X.
Leavitt already has a name picked out for the baby
After reveal to family might’ve crossed a few lines, the current mother of two initially announced her pregnancy to the public in April.
“(C)an’t wait for our October baby,” she wrote in the caption of a video that shows her igniting a burn-away photo on top of the cake that read “coming this October 2024” before revealing a sonogram underneath.
Leavitt and her husband are already parents to two adorable children, a 4-year-old daughter named Sedona and a 2-year-old son named Liam. And they already have a name picked out for their third.

“We want the name to be Billy,” Leavitt said while walking the navy carpet at the People’s Choice Country Music Awards with her husband on Sept. 26. “And we’ll just change the spelling if it’s a boy or if it’s a girl.”
