Wendy Williams’ Son, Kevin Hunter Jr., Evicted From Apartment After Failing to Pay $70,000 in Rent

Wendy Williams’ 22-year-old son, Kevin Hunter Jr., was evicted from his $2 million Miami apartment in mid-September after failing to pay rent for nearly six months – between February and August. Court documents later confirmed he owed $70,000 in unpaid rent before the eviction lawsuit was filed in August.

This isn’t the first eviction lawsuit Hunter Jr. has faced. In August 2021, he faced another eviction lawsuit at a different Miami apartment after the college student refused to move out when the lease ended. The lawsuit was dismissed when Hunter Jr. finally moved out nearly three weeks after the lease ended.

As for his latest eviction, Hunter Jr. responded to the lawsuit roughly two weeks after it was filed. He confessed to not paying rent since February and cited his mother’s ongoing mental and physical health issues as the reason why – adding that her finances have been placed under the court’s control.

“Even though my name is on the lease, my mom was paying, and for medical and legal reasons, she has not been able to pay the rent for the past months since the 1-year lease ended and the court has controlled her finances,” said Hunter Jr., adding that this all happened ‘very quickly and unexpectedly.’

In his initial response, Hunter Jr. explained that his mother had purchased a full year’s rent upfront in March 2021 – meaning the lease ended in March 2022. At that point, Hunter Jr. agreed to start paying on a month-to-month basis. That never happened and it resulted in him being about $70,000 behind on rent.

During that time, he was traveling often to care for his mother – who was going through several health problems. “All of this happened suddenly and all of the financial support that she always gave me stopped, including my housing,” he continued in his written response to the August eviction lawsuit.

Hunter Jr. went on to explain that he was planning on moving into temporary housing prior to receiving the eviction and would be moved out within a week – which he did. He continues to care for his mother as she continues to heal and recover from her health issues, which have seen her career come to a halt.

Why Doesn’t Wendy Williams Have Control of Her Finances?

Over the past several years, Wendy Williams has documented her many health struggles with her loyal fanbase. Her struggles had many people worried, including her former financial advisor – who told Wells Fargo that she felt Williams was of ‘unsound mind.’ As a result, Wells Fargo denied her account access.

“Wells Fargo has strong reason to believe that [Williams] is the victim of undue influence and financial exploitation,” said the financial institution, failing to provide additional context or details. Last month, Schiller made it known that she didn’t want to pursue guardianship, but it was Wells Fargo’s idea.

Over the past few months, Wendy Williams has been spending more time focusing on her health and wellness. She spent some time in a wellness facility before returning home. Her health struggles resulted in her airing the final episode of The Wendy Williams Show after 14 years – a heartbreaking moment.
