There’s an old adage: “Kids can be so cruel.” But after watching this video, we think it should be changed to, “Kids can be so kind.” A video showing two kids helping their six-year-old friend with cerebral palsy has gone viral after being shared on social media.
Jeffrey Mackey, who lives with his family in Fulton, New York, was having trouble walking after his body tensed up while he was playing at Thunder Island water park. His friends, Raya Joyce and Kane Raymond, rushed to help him walk, holding his hand as he climbed up the stairs.

Five-year-old Raya told the local ABC station, “Because his legs… he couldn’t really walk, and I had to hold his hand up the stairs.”
Jeffrey’s mom, Andrea Mackey, explained that his muscles sometimes get tight when he is cold. Andrea took the video of the kids helping her son, saying that Raya and Kane made sure to stay close to Jeffrey throughout their time at the water park.
“I think there’s just been so much going on in the world right now, I think people needed to see it. I think they saw three tiny hearts do an amazing thing,” Andrea told ABC 6. “Kids are great. You know those kids are going to grow up to be good adults and they will always help him, somebody will always have his back. We have a great community, a great support team, so, I’m a little less worried today.”
So remember: Even when the world seems dark and everyone seems cruel, there is genuine goodness and kindness out there in all people, and especially in kids.
