Tyler Cameron was once on his way to being a quarterback in the NFL after being signed as an undrafted free agent by the Baltimore Ravens in 2017. Unfortunately, a shoulder injury resulted in him ending his football career and he turned to the two things he knew best – modeling and building homes.
In 2019, he received a big break when he was cast as a contestant in Season 15 of The Bachelorette – a season that starred former Miss Alabama USA Hannah Brown, who was looking for love. He came close to being that love, but was ultimately eliminated during the show’s final episode – he was the runner-up.
Being a fan-favorite on the show turned out well for the ‘dancing contractor,’ as he became known as. Not long after the show aired, he was rumored to be in a relationship with supermodel Gigi Hadid – which ultimately resulted in him not being considered a suitable choice for The Bachelor – an offer he rejected.

The relationship between Tyler Cameron and Gigi Hadid didn’t last very long and not much was known about the relationship, but he did appear in several photo-ops with his then-girlfriend – including when he attended her grandmother’s funeral service with her siblings, one of which was dating Dua Lipa.
Appearing on the Trading Secrets podcast with host Jason Tartick – a contestant on the 14th season of The Bachelorette – Tyler finally opened up about his short relationship with Gigi. While many men dream of that scenario, you’d be surprised to learn that he wasn’t financially stable – at all – during that time.
It started when Jason revealed a conversation he had with Tyler in 2019. “He goes to me, ‘Dude, I don’t know what the f**k I’m doing. I got $5,000 in my bank account. I don’t know what my next job is, and I’m dating Gigi Hadid,’” said Jason – to which Tyler responded, “Not even $5,000. I had like $200.”
During his time with Gigi, Tyler was living at his friend’s house in New York City and didn’t have a lot of money to his name. “But I’m like the happiest I’ve ever been ’cause the world is wide open to me in New York City. I can do whatever I want,” he said. Of course, dating a model takes some of that stress away.
Tyler Cameron Needed His Father to Help Fund His Dates
While he had a dream girlfriend in Gigi Hadid, it wasn’t easy dating a supermodel on a tight budget. In fact, there were times when Tyler Cameron didn’t know if he would be able to afford his lavish dates with his girlfriend – even turning to his father, Jeff Cameron, to send him money in times of desperate need.
“[When] I’d be going on dates, I’m like calling Pops up in the bathroom. I’m like, Pops, I don’t think my credit card’s gonna go through. I need you to send me some money right now. And he’s like, ‘You got it, son, go get it,’” Tyler said in the podcast. We’ve all been there, but the stakes aren’t always that high.
“At this point, I don’t even know what a credit card is,” he said. “I got a straight debit card, so when you hit zero, you hit zero, you know. So I’m just crossing my fingers, hoping it swipes, and it just kept swiping.” Again, we’ve all been there, but not on a date with Gigi – which only adds to the pressure of that situation.

While we don’t know if Gigi knew about his financial struggles, the relationship didn’t last long enough for it to really matter. They only dated for a couple months and she eventually moved on to some big-name stars – she eventually had a child with Zayn Malik and is now reportedly dating Leonardo DiCaprio.
Well, at least Tyler Cameron has a good story to tell his friends!
