New details are emerging regarding the brutal attack of Paul Pelosi – the husband of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi – at his home in late October. The media is now learning that the suspect, David DePape, had several other people on his ‘hit list’ and that Nancy Pelosi wasn’t his only intended target.
According to court hearings, DePape had plans of targeting Gavin Newsom (Democratic California Governor), Hunter Biden (son of Democratic President Joe Biden), and Tom Hanks (a known democrat who endorsed Joe Biden in 2020). David DePape was preparing for what he called a ‘suicide mission.’
At the time of the attack, authorities were saying the attack was politically-motivated. “There is evil in Washington, what they did went so far beyond the campaign. It originates with Hillary [Clinton[,” DePape was quoted as saying during the initial interviews with police officers. He now awaits a criminal trial.
It’s now clear that David DePape was a disgruntled American who wanted to raise awareness about all the criminal activity happening in Washington. One of his plans was to kidnap Hunter Biden so he can discuss these crimes – along with some of the other alleged corruption from Democratic politicians.
On December 14, DePape appeared in court for a four-hour hearing that ended with San Francisco Superior Court Judge Stephen Murphy deciding to move forward with a trial – citing enough evidence to continue. DePape is being charged with both state and federal crimes and is due back on December 28.
Among the many state-level charges DePape was facing include attempted homicide, first-degree burglary, violent felony enhancement, assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery with serious bodily injury, elder abuse, inflicting great bodily injury on the elderly, dissuading a victim, and so much more.
The two federal charges he’s facing are ‘attempted kidnapping of a federal officer or employee,’ which can result in up to 20 years in prison, and ‘assault of an immediate family member of a federal official,’ which can result in up to 30 years in prison. We should learn more about the case in the coming weeks.
How is Paul Pelosi Doing Now?
Paul Pelosi was at home on October 28th when David DePape broke into his home looking for Nancy Pelosi – who wasn’t there at the time. He immediately called 9-1-1 and was speaking with a dispatcher during the altercation. When police arrived, DePape and Pelosi each had one hand on a single hammer.
Officers asked DePape to drop the hammer, which the suspect refused before striking Pelosi in the head with the hammer at full force. The attack left Pelosi with a fractured skull before officers stepped in and arrested DePape. He was immediately taken into custody for questioning, where he was interviewed.
As for Paul Pelosi, he was immediately taken to a hospital where he was treated for his injury – which included successful brain surgery. He was sent home just six days after the attack. On December 5th, he made his first public appearance since the attack at the 45th Kennedy Center Honors, alongside his wife.
