Tom Brady has already unretired once in his career, but don’t expect him to do it again – no matter how many times it gets brought up. The 7-time Super Bowl champion recently explained the primary reason why he would never consider a (second) return to the NFL and his answer won’t surprise you – family.
The topic got brought up (again) in a new episode of his SiriusXM podcast – Let’s Go! with Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald, and Jim Gray. At one point during the podcast, their special guest – Jimmy Donaldson (better known as Mr. Beast from YouTube) – joked that his ratings would skyrocket if he unretired again.
Brady was quick and firm with his response. “I am NOT coming out of retirement,” Brady said – though he called Mr. Beast’s idea ‘smart.’ Even his co-host, Jim Gray, tried to convince him, but Brady doubled down. “My parents would call, my kids would call. They would kill me. I wouldn’t be around by tonight.”

For those who need a little context, Tom Brady initially retired from the NFL on February 1, 2022 after 22 years in the league. That retirement only lasted 40 days before he unretired and returned to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 2022 season. He retired ‘for good’ in the 2023 offseason – on February 1, 2023.
“As I said, you’re only allowed one un-retirement. And I’ve used it up,” Brady said on his pod when Jim Gray told Mr. Beast he would need a ‘more original’ idea to boost ratings. “So at this point, I’m just looking forward to being in more of your videos ’cause my kids don’t think I’m s–t,” Brady said to Mr. Beast.
Brady alluded to the influence Mr. Beast has on the younger community and how his three children – John ‘Jack’ Edward Thomas (who he shares with Bridget Moynahan), and Benjamin Rein and Vivian Lake (who he shares with Gisele Bundchen – would likely listen to Mr. Beast before listening to their father.
“At the end of the day, you know, Jimmy’s the one that, he’s got their attention. So if he tells ’em to do something, he’s got a lot more influence than I do. So I’m actually trying to stay on their good side,” Brady added on his podcast. Who knows, maybe we’ll see Tom Brady and Mr. Beast work together in the future.
Mr. Beast Invites Tom Brady Onto His YouTube ‘Show’
Can you imagine what a Tom Brady-Mr. Beast collaboration would look like? The current G.O.A.T. of YouTube teaming up with one of the (if not the) greatest quarterbacks of all-time would be legendary and I don’t even think it would matter what they end up doing – people from all around the world would tune in.
If it sounds like something you’d be interested in seeing, don’t hold your breath – the wheels are already turning. During his most recent podcast on Monday (October 9), Mr. Beast invited Tom Brady to be a contestant in one of his YouTube videos and gave a preview of what that collaboration might look like.
“Yeah, come on down. It’d be fun to have you as a contestant. Imagine my viewers, they just click on a video and it’s like a hundred people competing and then just randomly it’s Tom Brady. They’d be like, what the heck? It’d be so funny,” Mr. Beast explained – doesn’t that sound like something you would watch?

Tom Brady seemed to like the idea, but on one condition – they pick a competition that makes him look good. “I’ll do it. We just gotta make a competition that I’m somewhat decent at. You can’t bury me alive or something like that!” Brady said. Even in retirement, he still has that burning desire to win at everything.
