As Mamas Uncut previously reported, on October 28, 2022, news broke that Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen have officially filed for divorce. The high-profile couple has been married for 13 years.
Now, Tom Brady is speaking out for the time since he and Gisele announced the finalization of their divorce. While a guest on his Sirius XM radio show, Brady said, “I think there’s a lot of professionals in life that go through things that they deal with at work and they deal with at home,” he said.
“Obviously, the good news is it’s a very amicable situation and I’m really focused on two things, taking care of my family and certainly my children, and secondly, doing the best job I can to win football games.”
“So, that’s what professionals do. You focus at work when it’s time to work, and then when you come home you focus on the priorities that are at home. All you can do is the best you could do. That’s what I’ll just continue to do as long as I’m working and as long as I’m being a dad,” Brady added.
Brady then briefly touched on dealing with such a public divorce, calling that part of the situation very difficult. “We all have our unique challenges in life. We’re all humans. We do the best we could do.”
Brady went on to add that he has “incredible parents that have always taught me the right way to do things. I want to be a great father to my children and always try to do things the right way as well.”
”And to deal with things in your life that have challenges, you wanna deal with them in the best possible way. So, I want to always be able to hold my head high on and off the field, and I’m gonna try to continue to do that for as long as I’m here.”
Legal documents obtained by People revealed that the divorce has been signed off by a judge and that the marriage is now considered dissolved and “irretrievably broken.”
Tom’s interview comes after the former pair shared individual statements on their respective social media accounts, confirming the news of their divorce.
“With much gratitude for our time together, Tom and I have amicably finalized our divorce. My priority has always been and will continue to be our children whom I love with all my heart. We will continue co-parenting to give them the love, care, and attention they greatly deserve. The decision to end a marriage is never easy but we have grown apart and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best for Tom always. I kindly ask that our privacy be respected during this sensitive time. Thank you. Gisele”
Shortly after Gisele released her own statement, so did Tom. Read his statement below where he still calls Gisele his wife despite their decision to end their marriage:
“In recent days, my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage. We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way. We will continue to work together as parents to always ensure they receive the love and attention they deserve. We arrived at this decision to end our marriage after much consideration.
Doing so is, of course, painful and difficult, like it is for many people who go through the same thing every day around the world. However, we wish only the best for each other as we pursue whatever new chapters in our lives that are yet to be written. And we kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate what is to come in the days and weeks ahead. Thank you.”
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, the Brady family has been the subject of a lot of scrutiny lately. While Tom Brady’s kids were present for his first home game of the year this year, his wife, supermodel Gisele Bündchen was not.
Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen File For Divorce After 13 Years
Shortly before the season began, rumors began to swirl that Tom and Gisele were in a bit of a rough patch after Brady took an 11-day hiatus from practice prior to the start of the season. Now, the heartbreaking news has been confirmed.
According to sources, TMZ reports that Tom and Gisele have come to an agreement and will file to end their marriage in Florida. Over the last several weeks, it’s been alleged that Tom and Gisele have been working on a custody agreement and a property settlement.
The couple shares two children together, 12-year-old Ben and 9-year-old Vivi. Brady also has a son from a previous relationship, 15-year-old Jack.
It’s no secret Gisele has been eagerly awaiting Tom’s retirement and as she told Elle earlier this week she had hoped his retirement would mean more time together as a family and more time for her to restart her career after putting it on the back burner for him.
Now, a source confirmed to People earlier this month that Gisele believes her marriage to Tom is beyond repair. “[Gisele] is done with their marriage,” an insider told People.
“She was upset about it for a long time, and it’s still difficult, but she feels like she needs to move on. She doesn’t believe that her marriage can be repaired.”
However, as it is well known, Brady ultimately made the decision earlier this year, just weeks after announcing his retirement that he would be coming out of retirement to play at least one more year, his 23rd season overall, in the NFL. Bundchen, while talking with ELLE magazine, discussed her husband’s decision to return to the NFL for another season.
In the interview, Gisele opened up about stepping back from her career as a model to raise their children.
“I’ve done my part, which is [to] be there for [Brady]. I moved to Boston, and I focused on creating a cocoon and a loving environment for my children to grow up in and to be there supporting him and his dreams,” Gisele told ELLE.
Gisele continued saying, “Seeing my children succeed and become the beautiful little humans that they are, seeing [Brady] succeed, and being fulfilled in his career—it makes me happy. At this point in my life, I feel like I’ve done a good job on that.”
And even though Gisele is grateful to have had the opportunity to be so present in her husband’s and children’s lives, Gisele admits she still has dreams of her own that she wants to pursue.
“I have a huge list of things that I have to do, that I want to do. At 42, I feel more connected with my purpose,” she told ELLE. “I feel very fulfilled in that way, as a mother, and as a wife. And now it’s going to be my turn. It’s not like I’m going to be in the valley forever.”
Gisele also admitted she hoped Brady would be more present in the years going forward. “Obviously, I have my concerns—this is a very violent sport, and I have my children and I would like him to be more present.”
”I have definitely had those conversations with him over and over again. But ultimately, I feel that everybody has to make a decision that works for [them]. He needs to follow his joy, too.”
On Monday, sources reported that Brady’s decision to come out of retirement put “a strain on the personal side of his life,” and that “Gisele is frustrated and sick of his career coming before their family, who has always supported him.”
Despite all of the rumors about their relationship, Gisele did take to Twitter on Sunday night to cheer on her husband who beat Dallas in their season opener. Here’s to hoping the uber-famous couple can work things out.
