You might consider this to be something only a crazy dog mom would do, but color me crazy because throwing my dog a first birthday party was some of the most fun I’ve had in months. And, to be honest, I did it all for under $50.
Eight months ago, I adopted my sweet fur baby Jack. When I rescued him in May, he had a limp and after several x-rays, they discovered his leg couldn’t be saved and now he’s my sweet little tripod!
Now, he’s my perfect little companion and I’m so happy he came into my life when he did. And that’s why I through him a first birthday party.

Not only is it a huge milestone, especially given all of the hardships he’s been through medically, but also because I wanted him to know how much I appreciate him and all he’s given me! So just how do you throw a dog a birthday party? Well, this is what I did.
First, decorations:
Gold Glitter Dog Happy Birthday Banner
$10.99 at the time of publication
PartyMart gold Foil Balloons
$5.88 at the time of publication
Red Polka Dot Party Hat
$2.80 at the time of publication
Second, an outfit for the birthday boy:
Dog Birthday Bandana & Hat Set
$5.99 at the time of publication
Third, gifts:
The Pioneer Woman Grain Free All Natural Jerky Dog Treats
$12.80 at the time of publication
KONG – Squeezz Dental Bone
$7.99 at the time of publication
Fourth, a cake:
Of course, it has to be doggy friendly, so I baked super simple dog bone-shaped treats using just three ingredients, all of which you can have shipped to your door.
King Arthur, Whole Wheat Flour
$11.87 at the time of publication
Libby’s Pie & Pastry Filling, Pumpkin
$2.39 at the time of publication
Justin’s Classic Peanut Butter
$6.47 at the time of publication
All you have to do is combine one cup of flour, two-thirds cup of each pumpkin and peanut butter until it forms a dough. Then roll it out and use a cookie cutter in the shape of dog bones before placing them on a parchment-lined cookie sheet and cooking them for 30 minutes in a 325-degree oven.
Hoggin Dogs Sample Pack
$12.99 at the time of publication
Gesentur Birthday Candle Number
$3.55 at the time of publication
I didn’t light the candle but it looked adorable on the makeshift dessert bowl. Finally, I ordered some pizzas and salad for my guest (AKA my bubble) to enjoy while celebrating Jack-Jack!
He also got a slew of other presents which he loved! Here are some of the gifts he received that we’re sure your doggo would love too!
Starmark® Treat Dispensing Chew Ball Dog Toy
$13.49 at the time of publication
I actually put his dry dog food in this after he eats his wet food and he loves playing for his food!
KONG® CoreStrength Bone Dog Toy
$11.99 at the time of publication
My dog loves to destroy his toys, but he’s met his match with this one!
Benebone® Zaggler Bacon Flavored Dog Chew Toy
$11.59 at the time of publication
This one is a bit easier for him to chew but he loves the flavor of it!
KONG® Jumbler Ball Dog Toy
$18.99 at the time of publication
This toy keeps him busy forever! His goal is to get the ball that’s stuck inside, but it’s impossible!
Haute Diggity Dog Starbarks Coffee Collection
$15.99 at the time of publication
As someone who loves coffee as much as I do, it’s only fitting that Jack has his own latte as well!
