Raelynn and Payton Keyes, three-year-old twin girls, were found dead last week inside a car parked in the backyard of a house in Hinesville, Georgia.
The girls did not live in the house, though they did spend time there, according to Hinesville Police Captain Tracey Howard. The police are looking for answers as to how they ended up there, according to Fox5 and KATV.

Before their deaths, the girls had been living in a foster home for a year and a half, according to Howard. The owners of the house where the girls were found had some kind of connection to the twins’ foster family, though police have not shared details as to what that is.

The girls were last seen when they were being put to bed, Howard told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The twins’ biological mother, Skye Keyes, responded to the deaths, saying, “We already lost one daughter in 2014 and six months after she passed we found out we were having our girls. We got double the blessing and now they’re gone, due to someone else’s negligence. We have two sons to stay strong for but feel like our world has been ripped apart.”

Police are currently investigating the girls’ deaths. A family member has set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for funeral costs.
