Shortly after Ashley Cain took to Instagram to talk about his 8-month-old daughter’s battle with leukemia and the unimaginable strength she has shown during this difficult time, Cain’s second-place hero, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, send him a video.
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, in one of Cain’s most recent Instagram posts, he wrote that The Rock had always used to be his hero. But after watching his baby girl fight a battle no person should have to endure, especially not an infant, the father admitted that Azaylia had become his hero.

“I honestly thought The Rock was my hero until I spent the last 8 months with you,” Cain wrote in an open letter to his daughter on her 8-month birthday. “You taught me how to be strong when I needed strength, you taught me how to smile when I am feeling sad, you taught me how to cherish every single moment – as these moments are all we have. You’ve been tenacious, fearless, courageous, positive, happy, and loving through times which I thought would make it impossible! You’ve given me the best 8 months of my life through the toughest of times.”
The Rock Sends Powerful and Emotional Message to Cain and His “Little Lion”
Not long after Cain shared his sweet message to his daughter, The Rock shared an emotional message back. “The universe and God, work in powerful, amazing, beautiful, mysterious ways,” Johnson told Cain, after admitting he rarely checks his email only to find the one that shared Azaylia’s with him.
“I’m so sorry to hear about your beautiful daughter, Azaylia. You tell that little lion I said, ‘Let’s go Champ, and to stay strong.’ Brother, I’m so sorry to hear this news. But I don’t have to tell you that your daughter’s strength is what strengthens you and all the loved ones around her. And in that, she’s already had this incredible impact on the world already. Stay strong, brother. Again, man, my heart breaks for you.”
In Cain’s latest update, the father admitted that despite being sent home, Azaylia was admitted back into the hospital to be put on oxygen and to have a blood platelet transfusion after she started bleeding from the nose. Cain also offered some advice to parents who are enduring a similar journey, “Make sure you know your stuff,” when it comes to what can help your little one. He continued, encourage parents know what their child needs, especially when child can’t ask for it themselves.
“Every moment counts,” Cain said.
