The Top 5 Movies to Stream on Disney+

If you’re the parent of a young child, you’ve probably already signed up for Disney+, Disney’s on-demand, ad-free streaming service that lets you easily choose from a wide variety of shows and movies from the likes of Pixar, Marvel, 20th Century Fox, and National Geographic. In short, there’s really no end to the options you can choose from, making it a great platform for kids big and small, as well as adults.

What’s tricky about the platform, though, is that with so many options to choose from, it can be hard to narrow down the must-see list. We’ve chosen five of our favorite movies currently streaming on Disney+ to make your next movie night a bit easier to tackle.

Frozen II

The Top 5 Movies to Stream on Disney+
Disney

To the delight of many fans, Disney brought the popular film Frozen II to the streaming platform three months early – just in time for people stuck at home during quarantine to view the blockbuster from the comfort of their couch. Frozen II follows Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven as they search for the origins of Elsa’s magical powers and save the kingdom of Arendelle.

Onward

Disney/Pixar

The Pixar film was added to the streaming service in March, just a few weeks after it hit theaters, giving families another opportunity to catch the studio’s latest feature film from home. Onward tells the story of two elf brothers who get the chance to spend one more day with their father, who had previously passed away. Like any good Pixar/Disney film, their adventure includes a bit of magic, a few obstacles, and a big amount of heart.

Star Wars

Disney

Disney+ is streaming all nine of the Star Wars films, but the best way to introduce your kids to the classic is to start at the very beginning. The original film, which was later renamed Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, premiered in 1977 and first introduced fans to the likes of Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Jedi Knights, C-3PO, R2-D2, Chewbacca and, of course, the magic of lightsabers.

Moana

Disney

Much to the disappointment of many a young fan, Moana was removed from Netflix in November 2018 ahead of being released on Disney+. Thankfully, families can now watch Moana’s mission to save her people at any time on the streaming service. The blockbuster follows the brave teenager as she sails across the ocean to fulfill an ancient quest.

Fantasia

Sometimes there’s nothing like a classic and this 1940s hit was one of the first feature films released by Disney. Fantasia has eight animated segments, all of which are set to classical music and includes everyone’s favorite mouse, Mickey. Seven of the pieces are performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra and all are conducted by Leopold Sokowski.

Bottom Line: Disney+ features many, many choices for kids and adults of all ages, making it a great streaming option for the whole family. In addition to movies, the platform also has a variety of TV shows available, including The Simpsons, DuckTales, Agent Carter, Lizzie McGuire, That’s So Raven and Hannah Montana.
