A 6-year-old girl was allegedly shot multiple times by a relative in Pasadena, Texas. The gunshot wounds ultimately caused her death and the person the police believe to be responsible now faces the death penalty following a trial.
Laurionne Walker, the wounded victim, was found after police were called to an apartment complex in Pasadena on March 19. Apparently, she was shot after she spilled water.
Police charged Raymeon Means with capital murder for the death of the child.
A 35-year-old relative of the victim, Raymeon Means, was charged with capital murder following the discovery of Laurionne’s body. Police said that Means remains in custody and that he is not eligible for bond.
A neighbor, Mauricio Alvarez, told KPRC Friday they witnessed that family member walking around often, and not too long before the shooting, that family member knocked on their door.
“He knocked on the door and he was like, ‘Oh, can you check if you have water coming down because the little girl clogged the toilet,’” Alvarez explained.
After the interaction, Alvarez said the accused left and he immediately heard arguing in the neighboring apartment unit.
“[The family member] was banging on a car. The woman upstairs had a knife and they were saying, ‘Get out of here. Get out of here!’” Alvarez shared. “[Later] he went running upstairs, and we heard like 4-5 shots, and he started running, and we started hearing screams.”
The injured child was rushed to Bayshore Hospital where she later succumbed to the injuries, police said.
The uncle of the 6-year-old, Damien House, spoke to the press to offer words of comfort to his sister and their community.
“All I can say to my sister, ‘I’m here for her.’ I can imagine what she’s going through because we’re all going through the same thing,” House said.
Family members explained an unfortunate series of events that followed the murder of Laurionne. The little girl was an aunt to three children who died in a car crash in Spring, Texas one day after her death. House is the father of the children who passed away in the Spring crash.
As you might expect this family is processing a lot all at once. “I am out of words. I’m choked up right now,” said Earline House, the grandmother of all the deceased children.
Four dead children all at the same time seems like an unbearable burden to shoulder. We wish for peace and healing for all of those involved.
