A teenage boy was charged with capital murder after the bodies of his mother and twin brothers were discovered in Munford, Alabama.
According to WVTM, Talladega County District Attorney Steven Giddens believes 16-year-old Landon Hudson Durham stabbed his mother, Holli Christina Durham, 36 and twin brothers, Branson William and Baron Joseph Durham, 13 to death. Giddens believes that Durham murdered his family on the morning of Tuesday, January 21st before he went to school.
The Talladega County Sheriff’s Office announced their investigation after they notified the public that three bodies had been found at Durham’s home. The Sheriff’s Office later updated the community on Facebook, revealing the cause of death for the murders was stabbing, but saying “there is no known threat to the community at this time.”
District Attorney Giddens said in an interview with AL.com, “This is the kind of crime you see on TV or the media or the internet that happen in other places, and for it to happen here, it really hits home.”
Giddens continued, describing the Alabama community: “Munford, like all communities in this county, are pretty close-knit and I know they’re hurting, and we are too. I’m not wishing this on somebody else but it’s hard to believe these things happen.”
According to WRBC, the Talladega County Schools Superintendent Suzanne Lacey released the following statement after she heard about the incident:
“Like any small town, when tragedy strikes it affects the entire community including the school community,” the statement said. “Our focus is to support the school family during this difficult time. We have additional counselors available to provide a helping hand and listening ear to our Munford students and staff.”
According to Holli Durham’s Facebook page, she was engaged to be married.
