Ted Cruz is speaking out after a teen girl was removed from his home on Tuesday night in an ambulance. According to KHOU11, Houston first responders rushed to the home of Senator Ted Cruz after receiving reports of a “self-inflicted cutting” call.
After police determined nothing criminal had occurred, paramedics took the teenager to a local hospital where she was treated. While the girl’s exact condition is unknown, police reported that she is expected to be okay.
Ted Cruz’s Office Speaks Out After Teen Daughter Suffered Injuries At Home
Now, two days after the incident, Ted Cruz’s office has shared a statement, confirming that the call was about their teen daughter.
“This is a family matter, and thankfully their daughter is okay. There were no serious injuries. The family requests that the media respect their daughter’s privacy at this time,” the statement read.
In a TikTok video from an account believed to be owned by 14-year-old Caroline Cruz, the teenager talked about the reports that resulted from the 911 call. “Hey, I wanted to address this on my own because the media is completely altering the story and causing my mental health to be exploited for their gain.”
Caroline continued saying, “Honestly I think it is sick they are using a 14-year-old for a publicity tool. I also don’t enjoy the assumption on why I did what I did. No it had nothing to do with my sexuality or my father. I’m not suicidal but I am experiencing some mental issues but I’m working through it and getting the help I need.”
“Thank you so much for all the support and love, it means a lot to me. But the most traumatizing part of this experience is how public it’s been. I’m feeling a lot better and I’m so happy to have a great support system, but I would prefer if y’all didn’t make bold statements about what this is when you truly have no idea what is going on.”
Ted Cruz and his wife Heidi Cruz have been married since 2001. They share two children together, 11-year-old Catherine Cruz and 14-year-old Caroline Cruz.
Cruz has been a republican senator since 2013.
