A mom is going viral after sharing a Target hack with other parents whose kids are tough on their clothes and grow out of them very quickly.
In a post originally shared by Liz Reinke, the mom said she wanted to share the shopping hack with others because it’s something she’s “been doing for a few years now, but clearly most of you don’t know!”

She continued, “Want to save money on your kids’ clothes? Target’s Cat & Jack line has a one-year quality guarantee. So when one of the boys rips his pants three months after I bought them, I simply bring them back for a full refund. I walk to the boys’ section, pick out a brand new pair (often a size larger) and I’m on my way with a brand new pair of pants for free!”
Reinke then added that all you need to do in order to exchange the tattered clothing is to have the original receipt.
“You just need to show customer service the original receipt. I keep my Target receipts in the back of my wallet so I don’t lose them. Just match up the numbers on the clothing tag to the numbers on the receipt. Voila! I just walk up and say, ‘I’d like to return these under the Cat & Jack warranty.’ Never an issue. You’re welcome.”
Another mom shared Reinke’s post and it quickly went viral. Hundreds of moms were blown away by the fact that Target offers this type of guarantee through their kid’s clothing line.
Target’s official website confirmed the post’s accuracy, “If you’re not satisfied with any Target Owned Brand item, return it within one year with a receipt for an exchange or a refund. Target RedCard™ debit and credit cardholders will receive an extra 30 days to return nearly all items purchased with their RedCard at Target and Target.com.”
And one mom added in the comments section that it’s not just kid’s clothing, it’s any Target owned brand. The comment read, “Any target owned brand has its own like policy – the towels have an extended return date as well.”
