At 46 years old, Tara Reid and her career have shown no signs of slowing down. But when it comes to the choices she has made with her body, it seems like everyone has an opinion.
In the past, Reid has been open about the hardships she faces after undergoing a botched breast augmentation and stomach liposuction. But now that 18 years have passed, people still can’t help themselves from sharing their unwanted opinions with Tara Reid on social media.
Tara Reid Is Taking Hold of the Narrative and We’ll Be Seeing a Lot More of Her Soon
Back in 2006, Reid got honest about her decision to go under the knife to make her breasts more even and to remove some excess skin she had on her stomach. Unfortunately, the procedure didn’t yield desirable results, Reid admitted.
“I got my breasts done for the first time because my breasts were uneven. I was a 34-B, but the right one was always bigger than the left. I weigh 110 pounds now, but I always used to fluctuate by 10 pounds, so my skin was kind of saggy. I figured I’m in Hollywood, I’m getting older, I’m going to fix them,” she explained to Us Weekly at the time.
“I got lipo because even though I was skinny, I wanted — I’m not going to lie — a six-pack. I had body contouring, but it all went wrong. My stomach became the most ripply, bulgy thing.” She said her dating life was affected by it the most.
And while Tara will always defend herself against the naysayers, she knows that she can’t make everyone happy. “Some people that eat too much, [and] you yell at them that they’re fat,” she said of the haters. “You want to get mad at me because I’m skinny? Great, get mad at me. I am what I am.”
Just in October of last year, Tara shared a photo of herself taken by a friend while they vacationed in Palm Springs. The photo, no doubt, showed off her petite figure, but as a result, several people accused her of having an eating disorder.
Just 24 hours later, Tara Reid took to Instagram again to share an open response to those who commented on her body.
“To all who made their great comments exposing their hate for my artsy picture I posted yesterday, it was the angle. Here is another picture from yesterday to show you I am not too skinny, I have a high metabolism. Anyone with a high metabolism understands it’s impossible to gain weight. All I do is eat. To everyone who wrote something nice and stuck up for me, I love you! And keep spreading that love, it is the only thing that will save this world.”
Earlier this year, in March, Tara sat down with Variety to talk about what she’s been up to and what the future hopefully holds for her. When asked what advice she would give herself in her 20s, Reid kept it simple, “Stay home.”
While Reid never really got in trouble during her years of intense fame, she did like to have fun. That alone made her a tabloid favorite, leaving her vulnerable to the same criticism she still faces today.
“There was a part of me that kind of got circled in that circle,” Tara Reid acknowledges. “[But] I never got arrested, never did a sex tape, never did anything really wrong except have a good time.”

And although the criticism gets difficult to deal with at times, she has no plans in the near future to retire. I mean, there’s an old saying: ‘Once you’re in Hollywood, you never get the taste out of you,’” she says. “I’ve taken a break before and stepped out of it. But once it’s in your blood, it’s always in your blood, you can’t help it. And no matter what, it’s my true love. I love acting.”
Currently, Tara is acting and executive producing several projects that are expected to premiere in the next couple of years. The film she is most excited about is called Masha’s Mushroom, in which she co-stars with Vivica A. Fox and Beverly D’Angelo.
In the movie, Reid plays “a workaholic mom who sets out to throw the world’s best party for her daughter before accidentally sending all the guests on a drug-induced trip.” She hopes to make it a five-movie franchise, something she is no stranger to.
One goal she hasn’t reached yet is making a biopic about her own life. Tara Reid is all about taking hold of the narrative these days.
