I Battled My Way Through an Eating Disorder and Finally Got the Second Child I Always Wanted

Eating Disorder Pregnancy
A mom writes in with her story of motherhood. After having her first child at 17, she and her new husband struggled to conceive for more than a year. Instead, though, she developed an eating disorder. This is the story of how she overcame those hardships and went on to find her happy ending. We reached out to the robust Mamas Uncut Facebook community and asked to hear stories from real moms about their experiences. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Our goal is to share these stories (anonymously, if the author so chooses) with our community as a reminder that we are not alone in either our joys or struggles. Hello. I’m 32 years old and happily married for the last 2 1/2 years. I became a mom for the 1st time at 17 to my beautiful, wonderful daughter. She changed me in so many ways for the best and still does to this day. We have the best bond ever. She is now 15. I met my husband in 2012, and he had a son from a previous marriage who is now 19. We got married in 2016 and immediately wanted a baby but after a 1 1/2 years of trying and nothing, we gave up. We are both Christians and take our faith seriously, so we agreed we wanted it to be God’s will, not ours, so we didn’t do any fertility treatments or even speak to doctors. Well, I developed an eating disorder (I was 85 lbs. at my lowest weight) and was having lots of health issues. I was dying. Then God sent my miracle. I hadn’t had a period in over year due to malnutrition, and I’m now 25 weeks pregnant with a boy, who is straight from God. We are extremely blessed and thankful. I hope my story encourages others to keep your faith in God. His timing is perfect. I no longer have an eating disorder and see myself as beautiful.
