After rising to fame thanks to their TLC reality show, Kody Brown and his four sister wives let the world in on what it is like to be polygamists. Over the span of the last 30 years, Kody Brown has married four women, Christine Brown, Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, and Robyn Brown.
In total, the sister wives have given Kody Brown 18 children. And while the husband and his wives have chosen this lifestyle, they have had their fair share of relationship issues.

Meri Brown was Kody’s first wife, they married in 1990. Then came Janelle in 1993, Christine in 1994, and Robyn in 2010.
However, the sister wives dynamic isn’t as fun as it all may seem.
Now, after 25 years together, Christine and Kody are calling it quits. Christine, who shares six children with Kody, revealed her decision to separate from her husband on Instagram.
She wrote, “After more than 25 years together, Kody and I have grown apart and I have made the difficult decision to leave. We will continue to be a strong presence in each other’s lives as we parent our beautiful children and support our wonderful family. At the time, we ask for you grace and kindness as we navigate through this stage within our family. With love, Christine Brown.”
Additionally, Kody also issued a statement of his own on his Instagram account. “Christine’s decision to leave comes with a great deal of sadness. We enjoyed many years together and I have a large amount of respect and admiration for her. Although we are moving forward on different paths, we will always remain committed parents.”
The couple’s youngest child is 11, their oldest is 26. It’s important to note that Christine and Kody have never been legally married. While Kody considered himself “spiritually” married to all of his wives, he’s only ever legally been married to his first wife, Meri, and his last wife Robyn.
Although they remained in a committed relationship for years following their divorce, Kody legally separated from Meri so that he could legally marry Robyn. This was done so that Kody could legally adopt Robyn’s 3 children from a previous relationship.
The 16th season of Sister Wives is set to premiere on November 21 and seemingly details the demise of Christine and Kody’s marriage.
Christine first revealed her feelings during the end of season 15. “I’m tired of feeling like I don’t matter. I’m tired of not having his support when I really need it. I’m just tired,” she told the cameras. “I need a partnership. I need something different than this.”
Christine May Not Be the Only Wife of the Sister Wives to Leave Kody Brown
Surprisingly, this isn’t the only relationship trouble Kody is dealing with. According to Us Weekly, Meri and Kody have had “zero relationship” since Christine left. As a source told the magazine, Meri “has become very independent” recently.
This source even claimed that Meri “and Kody have had zero relationship — it’s all fake. They’re together for TV, essentially.” The source believes Meri will be the next wife to leave Kody.
“She’s already been out with other men publicly. Now that’s Christine’s gone, it might be something that’s able to happen without the contract ending.” Wow.
