Could Simon Cowell’s son be following in his dad’s footsteps?
Cowell’s latest Instagram post says all signs point to yes!
On April 16, Cowell took to Instagram to share a photo of himself sitting at the America’s Got Talent judges desk. While this doesn’t seem out of the norm, considering Cowell often uses his personal Instagram account to promote his talent show, it was the person he was talking to at the judges’ desk that has people talking.
Dressed in a yellow polo and jeans, Cowell is seen in the photo talking with his son and another unknown young boy.
“Meet the new judges of Got Talent 2033,” the producer captioned the photo.
“Aww I have no doubt that Eric will want to follow in your footsteps,” a commenter wrote. “You’ve been a great example to him and I’m sure he adores going to work with you! I love the relationship you two have.”
“Fatherhood has certainly ‘mellowed’ Simon,” one person commented addressing Simon’s past terse demeanor. “It’s a great ‘look’ on him!”
“I love this so much! You can tell how securely bonded they are with one another,” another commenter added. “Simon had a massive character shift when he became a dad later in life. So precious.”
And it’s no secret just how much Cowell enjoys being a father. In a 2022 interview with The Sun, he admitted how unhappy he was before welcoming Eric into the world in 2014.
“Before Eric, my life was 99 percent work. I was obsessed with it,” Cowell told The Sun. “Now Eric is around, I don’t work through the night anymore. If he hadn’t come along, God knows what would have happened. The thought of it… I can’t deal with that.”
Cowell admitted it was Eric questioning him about his work habits that forced him to really look at himself and make a change.
“After I lost my mom and my dad, you kind of think you’re never going to feel that love again… that’s it. Then you have kids, and, though I never thought I would feel that way, it’s beyond your love for your parents. It almost hurts how much you love them,” he said of being a father to Eric.
In fact, much like the comments above suggested, becoming a father forced Cowell to really look at how he treated the contestants of his competition shows. Cowell admitted he couldn’t stand the thought of Eric being bullied, adding that he’s now “100-percent” more sensitive to other people’s feelings.
