When Homeward Trails Animal Rescue took in three pregnant dogs, they knew they needed the best care. Homeward Trails Animal Rescue is a non-profit that provides pet adoption and rescue services in Virginia, Washington D.C., and Maryland.
In an interview with People, the organization revealed that the three dogs who were expecting are named Shelly, Sassy, and Fiona. And shortly after they were found foster homes, all three of the moms gave birth, but not before they modeled for the camera in separate maternity shoots that would help the non-profit bring awareness to the importance of adopting a pet rather than shopping for a pet.
More specifically the photos were to help find forever families for Shelly, Sassy, and Fiona after they gave birth.

Homeward Trails Animal Rescue shared a snippet of each shoot, provided by the foster families, on Instagram. And my oh my are they precious. The first photo is Shelly, who gave birth to 10 puppies just two days after being welcomed into her foster home.
According to People, Shelly was rescued after being dumped at a rural shelter in Georgia. All 11 of them will be ready to adopt in six weeks.
And this is Fiona During Her Maternity Shoot.
Fiona was found abandoned on the side of the road and, as of Juen 24, she has yet to give birth. But while she and her foster family await her litter, People reports that she is being treated “like a queen.”
And this is Sassy.
Sassy is officially a mom just like Shelly. Sadly, as People reports, this beautiful momma is 14 years old and was abandoned for that reason. Homeward Trails Animal rescue rescued Sassy after she was dumped at a different shelter for being too old and too pregnant.
Now in the loving care of a foster family, Sassy gave birth to 12 puppies. Both Sassy and her little ones will be ready for adoption in about 7 weeks. According to the rescue, Shelly, Fiona, and Sassy “are eating up their newfound fame.” For more photos from the maternity shoots, you can head to over to People.com.
