Actress Shay Mitchell isn’t just known for the roles she’s played in countless television shows and movies. She’s also known for her wanderlust, which she documents for her fans on her YouTube page.
It’s her passion for seeing the world that inspired her to name her now 3-month-old daughter Atlas. It also inspired how she wanted the house she plans on raising her daughter in to look.
During an on-camera interview with Architectural Digest in which she described the interior design of her gorgeous California home, Mitchell pointed out all of the staple pieces in her home that she found during her many vacations to different places across the globe.

And during the tour of her home, fans also got their first look at Atlas’s nursery, which proved to be very chic, just like Mitchell. “This room probably had the biggest makeover. It was my junk room,” Mitchell admitted to Architectural Digest. “It was a faux guestroom.”
As her interior designer, Chad Wood, who is also her “florist, friend, hairstylist, designer, fire-starter, painter, and chef,” explained, the wanted Atlas’s room to be multi-functional which is why they included the bed in the nursery.
“Adding in the lights, we made it a really comfortable reading area too, which I loved,” Mitchell explained. “I think the piece that I bought was this crib and that’s kind of how we based everything else around it.”
The new mom also pointed out that her favorite thing about Atlas’s nursery is the collage of pictures they created as the backdrop for her crib. As Mitchell explained that “we really did choose her name because we’ve traveled to so many other places. And Atlas just felt so perfect for us and for her. So now she can kind of see where we’ve been.”
Mitchell also pointed out her favorite picture on the wall. It’s a photo of the 3D scan she had while pregnant with Atlas. “I’m so in love with that.” And her daughter is becoming a little traveler in her own right.
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, Mitchell and her boyfriend Matte Babel welcomed Atlas into the world in October 2019.
She said about being a mom for the first time, “I find myself being a lot more present, and I’m just looking at her every single day. You reflect on how fast time passes when you’re forced to slow down. The surprising thing is how much I enjoy this calmness.”
