On February 7, actress Shay Mitchell revealed she is expecting her second child with her partner Matte Babel! Now, she’s sharing how she was able to stay in the public eye but keep her pregnancy a secret.

When it comes to pregnancy, a top priority for moms and parents is being given the option to announce their pregnancy only when they feel ready. But because pregnancy almost always is given away by the burgeoning baby bump moms are sporting, and can sometimes be difficult to keep the exciting news a secret.

Well, as Shay Mitchell revealed on her TikTok, she has some tips she would like to share for those moms who are also hoping to keep their pregnancy a secret for just a bit longer. While wearing ab oversized blazer, Mitchell expertly disgusted her bump only to reveal it when opening the blazer.

On Instagram, Mitchell revealed the news of her pregnancy with a close-up shot of her growing baby bump. In her caption, she revealed what it has been like to be pregnant with her second child after losing her beloved grandmother just last week.

“Saying goodbye to a loved one while simultaneously experiencing the joy of welcoming another into this world is the great cycle of life,” Mitchell wrote. “It is also my most challenging season to date.”

“I can’t help but think this was the universe’s plan all along, knowing I would need otherworldly joy to cushion the blow of losing one of the most important people in my life. Yet, this is proof that love, life, and loss can profoundly exist all at the same time. Gram, I miss you every day. Little one, we are so excited to meet you. I breathe a sigh of peace knowing you two are already connected in such a cosmic way.”

As Shay Mitchell shared on January 30, her “Gram” passed away and how difficult it was to have to say goodbye. “Although inevitable, it would nevertheless be one of the hardest things I would ever have to go through the day she’d pass.

“She was and will forever be my best friend. From the imaginary games she would play with me when I was little to picking me up from high school because I was being bullied, to keeping scrapbooks of every article and magazine cover I have ever been in, she was my #1 cheerleader. My heart is broken.”

Our prayers and our congratulations are with Mitchell as she navigates this particularly poignant time in her life.
