As of 4:30 p.m. on October 20, the FBI is confirming that personal items, including a backpack and a notebook, belonging to Brian Laundrie were found. Additionally, human remains were also found but the FBI did not confirm who those remains belonged to. The FBI said they don’t have all the answers yet and that the investigation in this specific spot may take several days.
As Mamas Uncut reported earlier today, Fox News learned that Brian Laundrie‘s parents were seen at a Florida park where law enforcement says they “may have found something.” As the report stated, Christopher and Roberta Laundrie were photographed at Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park early Wednesday morning.
This is the park where Chris and Roberta told law enforcement their son may have gone after he disappeared on September 13. After Fox News reported that the couple appeared emotional after Chris followed law enforcement into the brush, NBC News is now reporting that authorities found items that allegedly belonged to Brian Laundrie.
At the time, Fox News said the Laundrie’s family lawyer declined to make any comments when asked about this new update. Now, he has confirmed what investigators found to NBC News.
“Chris and Roberta Laundrie went to the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park this morning to search for Brian,” Bertolino said. “The FBI and NPPD were informed last night of Brian’s parents’ intentions and they met Chris and Roberta there this morning. After a brief search off a trail that Brian frequented some articles belonging to Brian were found. As of now, law enforcement is conducting a more thorough investigation of that area.”
Brian Laundrie is currently a wanted man for reportedly making unauthorized charges on Gabby Petito‘s credit card. He is also the only person of interest in her murder.
What Appears to Be Partial Human Remains Found Near Where Brian Laundrie’s Personal Items Were Discovered.
According to WFLA, it has not yet been determined if the remains belong to Laundrie or not.
Additionally, reports suggest that a local medical examiner and cadaver dogs have been called to the scene where Laundrie’s personal items were found. According to reports, prior to these discoveries, this part of the park was at one point under water. It was only recently that the water has receeded.
However, as reporter Brian Entin revealed on Twitter, a tent has been set up in the reserve. He also shared that multiple mobile command centers have arrived.
Mamas Uncut will share additional information regarding this update as it becomes available. Brian Laundrie and Gabby Petito were engaged to be married when they began their cross country trip in a modified white Ford van in July.
This update comes one month and one day after Gabby Petito’s body was found in Wyoming on September 19. Her cause of death had been ruled as strangulation.
