After months of drama, arrests, and court dates, former ‘Teen Mom’ star Ryan Edwards is being ordered by a Hamilton County, TN judge to enter rehab treatment if he wants to avoid serving his 11-month, 29-day sentence in jail after entering a guilty plea for harassment over his ex-wife, Mackenzie Edwards.
In addition to completing treatment – successfully – Edwards is being ordered to wear a GPS monitor, avoid using social media relating to Mackenzie, and refrain from having any contact with Mackenzie in any capacity – unless approved by court. He will not remain in custody, but is being placed on probation.
“Don’t mess this up. I will not hesitate to revoke your probation,” said Judge Gary Starnes during the recent court session. As for the treatment, Starnes wants to see Edwards take it seriously. “45 days is not going to do anything but detox you. You need to stay down there between six months to a year,” he said.
As part of the plea deal, Ryan Edwards is getting something in return. Judge Starnes agreed to dismiss the three other charges that were against him – stalking, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on $55,000 bond and will head to rehab immediately.
The recent news comes amid an ongoing battle between Ryan Edwards and Mackenzie Edwards. Ryan was arrested three times in the past two months – on January 24, February 10, and March 1. He has repeatedly violated his probation and an order of protection for Mackenzie after threats were made.
On one occasion, Ryan released revealing photos of Mackenzie on his social media account after accusing her of cheating on him. Once Mackenzie received the order of protection, he threatened her and contacted her father – violating the order. During one of his arrests, he was found with narcotics.
Mackenzie filed for divorce on February 27, a few weeks after his second arrest. Two days later, he was arrested again for stalking. Judge Starnes acknowledged that he had been ‘struggling with this a long time’ and wants him to take this opportunity to finally get sober and start getting his life back on track.
Ryan Edwards and Mackenzie Edwards Share Two Children
Ryan Edwards and Mackenzie Edwards had been married for six years before the divorce was filed. They initially met in May 2016 and got engaged eight months later – in December 2016. The couple tied the knot in May 2017 and had a second wedding ceremony in November 2017 after Ryan went to rehab.
They announced they were expecting their first child together in March 2018 – a son named Jagger, who was born in October 2018 and turned 4 years old last year. In January 2020, they welcomed their second child together – a daughter named Stella, who turned 3 years old just a couple of months ago.
Those aren’t the only two children for the former Teen Mom stars. Ryan Edwards shares a 14-year-old son, Bentley, with his ex-girlfriend Marci Bookout – the two appeared on 16 and Pregnant together. As for Mackenzie Edwards, she shares a 9-year-old son, Hudson, with her ex-husband Zachary Stephens.

As of right now, Mackenzie Edwards has custody of her two children with Ryan Edwards, as well as her son with Zachary Stephens. Ryan’s other son, Bentley, is with Marci. As for Edwards’ rehab treatment, he’s expected back in court in April for a status hearing – at which point, his 45-day detox will be done.
