Naya Rivera and Ryan Dorsey’s son is no longer rocking the long hair. In Dorsey’s first post since his ex-wife’s tragic passing, the proud father is revealing that their son, Josey, opted for a buzzcut during his latest hair cut.
Dressed in a Carolina Panthers shirt and black running shorts, Josey had a huge smile on his face while showing off his cool new ‘do. “[Josey] wanted a cut like his boy Hunter. Oceans 12 meets C-Mac. Happy Sunday,” Dorsey captioned the adorable photos.

And fans couldn’t be more grateful than to see Josey smiling despite everything. “So thankful for you. So happy he’s smiling,” one commenter wrote. “Aww, he is so cute and so big. Naya is proud of her baby boy,” another added, while several more comments praised Josey for being a strong little boy.
Three months ago, on July 8, Josey was with his mom, actress and singer Naya Rivera, when she rented a pontoon for them to sail around Lake Piru in Ventura County, California. Sadly, while the pair was jumping off of the boat and swimming around the lake, something went wrong.
While Rivera was able to muster up enough energy to get Josey back on the boat, she couldn’t save herself. Josey reportedly watched as his mom became submerged under the water. Josey was found on the boat, still wearing his life jacket and wrapped in a towel when employees of the rental company went looking for them after the boat was never returned. Naya’s body was recovered five days later.
Since Rivera’s passing, her family, namely her sister, Nikayla Rivera, have stepped up for Josey and Dorsey to help in any way that they can. One of those ways was Nikayla moving in with Dorsey and Josey so that she can help raise him.
Despite the backlash those reports have received, Dorsey called the rumors claiming him and Nikayla are romantically involved “absurd,” adding that he couldn’t even believe he was responding to this type of “nonsense,” before adding that the rumors are also “ill-advised, illogical, [and] misinformed.” That lengthy Instagram video has since been deleted.
“She’s now the closest thing that he has to a mom,” Dorsey said while talking about Nickayla and why they made the decision to move in together. “I wouldn’t want any of you to ever have to go through that and to have to let him get what he wants, what he asks for, and what he needs right now, which is his family. To have a young woman who is his blood, his Titi, who’s willing to put her life on hold and sacrifice things, uproot her situation for the betterment of your child, so when you put your child to bed, you don’t have to be alone with your thoughts, and you don’t have to be sad every day and night wondering when does it get better.”

The only other time Dorsey has spoken out following Naya’s passing was in July when he shared a photo of her and their boy at sunset, along with a statement about how much they will all miss her. It’s good to see that the father and son duo are doing the best they can despite the pain they’ve all had to endure.
