Things haven’t been this peaceful within the Presley family for years. On Friday (June 16), Priscilla Presley – the ex-wife of Elvis Presley and mother of Lisa Marie Presley – shared a rare photo of herself posing alongside her three granddaughters – Riley Keough, Harper Lockwood, and Finley Lockwood.
“Happy Graduation girls! You’re now in high school!!!” she wrote in the caption. The photo comes just one month after Priscilla and Riley came to an agreement and settled their months-long court battle to ‘resolve all potential uncertainty’ regarding Lisa Marie’s estate – she passed away on January 12 at 54 years old.
Both Riley and Priscilla have expressed content with the settlement and the family appears ready to move forward. The agreement states that Riley will replace her grandmother as the sole trustee of Lisa Marie’s estate, while Priscilla will serve as ‘Special Advisor to the Trust’ and will receive a $1.4 million lump sum.
In addition to her role as trustee of the estate, Riley Keough will serve as trustee of the sub-trusts for her twin sisters, Harper and Finley Lockwood – they’re listed as beneficiaries of the estate. Their father, Michael Lockwood, will serve as guardian ad litem of the twins, who turn 15 years old on October 7.
As for Priscilla Presley, she’ll serve as the trustee of the sub-trust for her son, Navarone Garibaldi (the half-brother of Lisa Marie). He is set to receive 1/9 of the trust, while the other 8/9 will be split between Riley, Harper, and Finley – Riley’s brother, Benjamin, would be included, but he died of suicide in 2020.
During the court battle, Priscilla Presley petitioned to be buried alongside her ex-husband, Elvis Presley, at the Meditation Garden outside his Graceland mansion – which is now in the hands of Riley. That request was denied because Elvis is currently buried in-between his mother, Gladys, and father, Vernon.
While she won’t be buried alongside her ex-husband, Riley is allowing her grandmother to be buried in the same vicinity of Elvis – Lisa Marie and Benjamin are also buried in the Meditation Garden. With everything this family has endured over the past few months, it’s good to see them together again.
Priscilla Presley Believes Elvis Would Be Proud of Settlement
Riley Keough filed a petition on Monday (June 12) to have the courts approve the settlement, nearly one month after they came to the agreement. Two days later, Priscilla Presley filed a declaration of her own in support of having the settlement approved and sealed. In the declaration, Priscilla praised her family.
“My daughter’s passing was both devastating and heartbreaking. We have learned that the fans realize that we are ‘Just a Family.’ Elvis would be proud and his and Lisa’s wishes are what are most important to all of us,” she wrote – adding Riley and her team worked ‘diligently and tirelessly’ to resolve the matter.
She also clarified that her initial intent wasn’t to fight over Lisa Marie’s estate, but rather ‘resolve all potential uncertainty’ that surrounded the’interpretation’ of the estate. It was never a lawsuit and she never wanted to damage her relationships with her grandchildren. Now, everyone is happy and united.
