Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank are expecting their first child together. On September 25, Princess Eugenie took to Instagram to share a photo of a pair of infant-sized slippers.
Along with the photo, Eugenie wrote, “Jack and I are so excited for early 2021.” The couple married in 2018, after eight years together and according to a statement made by Buckingham Palace, their parents and Queen Elizabeth couldn’t be happier for them.
“Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in early 2021. The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York, Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are delighted with the news.”
Princess Eugenie Couldn’t Be More Excited for 1st Child
This will be Queen Elizabeth’s ninth great-grandchild. The 30-year-old is the daughter of the Duke of York, Prince Andrew, and the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson.
Despite the combined statement, Sarah also took to her Twitter account to share how excited she is to be a grandmother. This will be her first.
“I am so excited by the news that Eugenie and Jack are expecting their first child. Thrilled for them both and in my 60th year cannot wait to be a grandmother. Welcoming a new baby into the York family is going to be a moment of profound joy,” Sarah wrote.
Also sharing in the expectant parents’ joy are famous friends like singer Ellie Goulding, who commented, “So soooo happy for you both. Love you.” Eugenie’s sister, Princess Beatrice—who got married in July of this year—has not publicly addressed her little sister’s big news yet.
According to the Daily Mail, it is believed that like Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, Eugenie and Jack will also forego giving their child a title. A friend of Eugenie and Jack’s also told People that the mom-to-be will most likely parent like her mother parented her.
“Eugenie is such a fun person but very thoughtful too,” the friend said. “I think she will be more of a bohemian parent, a bit like her mom, while Jack will be calm and chilled.” And if Sarah’s recent quarantine project means anything, the children’s book author is sure to be a fun grandmother.
Congratulations, Eugenie and Jack!
