Prince George, the eldest child of Prince William and Kate Middleton, has officially been chosen as a page during King Charles’ (his grandfather’s) coronation on May 6. The 9-year-old is currently second in line to the throne and is followed by his siblings – sister Princess Charlotte and brother Prince Louis.
George is one of four pages of honor selected by Charles. He’s joined by Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, (13-year-old twin son of Marquis of Cholmondeley), Nicholas Barclay (13-year-old grandson of Sarah Troughton), and Ralph Tollemache (12-year-old son of Edward Tollemache and Sophie Tollemache).
Queen Camilla has also chosen four pages of honor. She’ll be supported by three of her grandchildren – 14-year-old twins Gus Lopes and Louis Lopes (sons of Laura Lopes) and 13-year-old Freddy Parker Bowles (son of Tom Parker Bowles) – and great-nephew, Arthur Elliot. There are eight pages in total.

Ever since King Charles’ coronation was announced, many people have been wondering what role Prince George will have in the ceremony – now we have our answer. While his parents, Prince William, and Kate Middleton, were concerned about the pressure he might have, they’re excited about the opportunity.
“We’re all very excited about Prince George’s role in the coronation, it will be an incredibly special moment,” said one spokesperson for Kensington Palace – where Prince William and his family reside. Another royal source added that they are ‘cognizant that he is old enough to understand what’s going on.’
It’ll be a big day for Prince George, but he’ll be rushed back into normal life the following week when he returns to school. The family understands he’ll be the center of attention among his classmates when that day comes, but believe George is ready for that moment and understands the significance behind it.
“His parents are very excited and delighted that he is a page. It’s something that his parents have thought long and hard about and are very much looking forward to — and I’m sure George is, too,” said another royal source. In addition to his role at the coronation, he’ll be a part of the procession back to the Palace.
Rehearsals for King Charles’ Coronation Are Underway
While the United Kingdom – and the world, at large – await the historic coronation on May 6, the first British coronation since Queen Elizabeth II took the throne on June 2, 1953, the Royal family has already started preparation for the big day with rehearsals. Of course, those rehearsals are taking place in private.
Rehearsals are being held in the Ballroom of Buckingham Palace – where King Charles and Queen Camilla will live once renovations to the residence are complete. While the coronation will take place at Westminster Abbey, they rehearse in private in order to keep Westminster Abbey open to the public.
On April 4, a new photograph of King Charles and Queen Camilla was released – along with photos of the official invitation to the coronation. Approximately 2,000 invitations will be sent via mail, which is less than his mother – Queen Elizabeth II – sent out during her coronation nearly 70 years ago.

And for those who might be wondering, there is still no official word on whether or not Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, are to attend the coronation – they’ve received an invite, but no details have been released regarding a response. The coronation will take place on May 6 at Westminster Abbey.
