“Daughter of a single dad here! Fairly certain he needed to take me into more than one men’s room at that age and I didn’t come out scarred :)”

“The few times my dad had to take me to the bathroom instead of my mom he’d cover my eyes, open the door and say ‘girl coming on deck, cover up guys.'”

“That’s ok. I had a meltdown around that age because my dad wouldn’t let me wash my hands in the urinal. I really thought it was just a weird low sink. He still makes fun of me for it.”

“I’m a preschool teacher so we have a lot of potty training kids. I had one girl who threw a huge screaming/crying fit because she wanted to pee with the toilet seat up but she wanted to sit. She told me that that’s how big girls pee and I said, ‘that’s how big girls fall into the toilet. Let’s pee with the seat down.’ She was so mad until she did it later that day and got stuck in the toilet because she fell in. She stopped trying to put the seat up.

“Have done this hundreds of times. Never had a complaint. Other dads get it and those who don’t…don’t have to deal with soiled children’s garments so they don’t get an opinion.”

“Family if available. Men’s room otherwise. If you carry a bag, pack some Lysol wipes. I cleaned the f out of the seats in the stalls when my daughter was little.”

“Do people really get upset if theres a man in a womens restroom, if hes there with his daugther??? that makes no sense to me. I’m a woman myself and I just dont understand the problem.”

“Do you at least give fair warning? ‘Guys! Hide your ducks! I’m bringing in my little girl! Hide your ducks!'”

“Men’s room usually for potty trained kids. But if I need to change a diaper of the baby, I’ll go wherever there’s a change table, if there’s only one in the ladies – so be it. That’s the establishments choice.”

“Honestly, people are pretty understanding of single dads. But generally, it’s great that men are more wholesome, and taking larger roles in their kids lives. Who would disparaged someone for that.”

“I’ve been a single father for more than 10 years. Nothing used to bother me more than the bathroom situation especially with changing tables, but I always just took her into whatever and we would mind our business. Gotta dad when you gotta dad. It will be fine.”

“Think of children as genderless, and adults as gender defined. Go by that.
‘Child in men’s bathroom’ vs ‘grown adult man in women’s bathroom.'”

“Ex – little girl here. Dad took me into the men’s bathroom and just waited outside the stall. Didn’t seem weird at the time.”
