Moms Are Sending Other Parents Warning After Popular Christmas Gift Sends a Handful of Kids to ER

Moms are warning other moms with children who were gifted the “L.O.L. Surprise 2-in-1 Glamper” this year for Christmas.

According to CafeMom and a handful of parents, the Glamper has a serious safety issue that isn’t obvious to those who haven’t fallen victim to the danger before. As multiple social media posts have revealed, moms are telling other families to “BE CAREFUL.”

Parents Warn Others of Popular Christmas Gift

One woman wrote on the official Facebook page of the “L.O.L Surprise” franchise, “Merry Christmas everyone. I just want to warn all the parents whose child received the Lol Glamper. My daughter got her finger caught in it tonight and I had to call 911. After an hour they had to cut the camper to get her finger free.”

Apparently, the Glamper has a special release button on its underside, and the instructions tell their users to use their finger to press the button. However, many of the children who put their finger in the hole got their finger stuck.

So stuck that it either stopped blood flow or required a 911 call to get it unstuck.

And another parent said, “A warning to parents and their children who have bought the LOL Surprise Glamper. Do not follow the instructions and push your finger into the glamper cab release button. The finger can and does get stuck.”

He continued, “The worst part of this is that while I was carefully drilling holes through the outside of the unit to gain access to the release latch, my wife Googled this and found several instances where it has HAPPENED before. We successfully got her finger out and are waiting for blood flow to return. I cannot believe #lolglamper #lolsurpise keeps selling these without changing the design. This is a HAZARD!”

Shortly after multiple complaints were posted on their official page, a spokesperson for LOL Surprise made a statement on their Facebook page.

It read, “We are deeply saddened to see the images and comments on the LOL Surprise! Glamper. We have heard you and are issuing a product safety notice. If you have any concerns please go to our website and customer service will promptly assist you. Our fans and customers are our number one priority!”

When contacting customer service, customers will be given a new Glamper, one that has been fixed to ensure the safety of the children playing with it. Isaac Larian, CEO and Founder for MGA Entertainment, also issued a statement to CTV News:

“I am extremely upset to hear about our fans’ negative experience with the L.O.L. Surprise! Glamper. Safety is a top priority when we develop our products, which must pass third-party toy testing and all applicable safety requirements before they’re shipped to retailers. I take any concerns where injury is involved very seriously. There is a caution sticker on the glamper, and although the product was fully compliant as originally sold, in an abundance of care we have now re-designed the button mechanism to prevent any possibility of finger capture.”

The company has yet to issue a recall and it’s unclear if they intend too.
