Earlier this year, Olivia Munn opened up about her battle with breast cancer.
In an interview with Good Morning America’s Michael Strahan in May, Munn said her diagnosis came as a shock.
Munn revealed she never would have known she had breast cancer if it wasn’t for her OBGYN, Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, who made the decision to “calculate my Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Score.”
Her score of 37.3% put Munn in the high risk category and she was instructed to get an MRI. It was the results of that MRI that revealed she had cancer.
Later, in an Instagram post, Munn praised her husband, comedian John Mulaney for being her rock throughout the entire journey.
“I’m so thankful to John,” Munn wrote, adding that John was constantly researching and preparing her for what she should expect.
She added that he was there before and after every surgery, “always placing framed photos of our little boy Malcolm so it would be the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes.”
Now, the husband and wife are revealing that while undergoing treatment, they welcomed a second child into the world via surrogacy.
“Méi June Mulaney came into the world September 14, 2024, the year of the dragon,” Munn wrote on Instagram alongside several photos of their baby girl.
“I had so many profound emotions about not being able to carry my daughter,” the actress wrote.
“When I first met our gestational surrogate we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding, I knew I had found a real-life angel. Words cannot express my gratitude that she kept our baby safe for 9 months and made our dreams come true.”
“I am so proud of my little plum, my little dragon for making the journey to be with us” Munn continued revealing, “Méi (pronounced may) means plum in Chinese.”
“My heart has exploded,” the now mom-of-two concluded.
