Nick Cannon No Longer Wants to Be ‘Villainized’ as a Father of 12

Nick Cannon has had enough of the public having their opinion on how he chooses to live his life and grow his family.

While talking with the Los Angeles Times, Cannon admitted that he’s “been villainized. I hear all the time, ‘You can’t be present for all those children.’ So therefore I get this deadbeat dad title.”

But as Cannon continued, that couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, he admits he “keeps a schedule for each kid,” and in order to get one-on-one time with all of them, he takes pride in being the one that “drives them to their extracurricular activities.”

His only goal is to make sure his 12 children know he will always be there for them no matter what. “It’s not about what I do for you or what I say to you, it’s about how you feel when I’m with you,” Cannon explained when describing his parenting style.

“If you feel loved when you see your dad, that’s what’s gonna resonate.”

In a previous interview, Cannon admitted his goal is to be a provider for his kids and their mothers. “It ain’t even about a monthly allowance or amount of money because I don’t give myself that,” he said a few days ago. “What they need, they get it… That’s why they call me the provider.”

But at the same time, caring for his large family costs him about $3 million a year. As a result, Cannon’s work schedule will always remain busy.

“When you think about my lifestyle, I have to generate at least $100 million a year,” Nick told the LA Times. “Everybody thinks Ryan Seacrest has tons of money. I do everything that he does times 10. Well, not times 10—times three. Because he does a lot.”

Now, Cannon says he’s in a place where he ignores what the public thinks about him, and letting his actions speak for itself. “I’m really at a place now where I don’t care what people know. I’d rather just operate. It’s more about really being a good person instead of telling people you’re a good person.”

Cannon also finally answered why he decided to have so many kids. He told the LA Times that his big family became a reality because he wanted to make his many partners happy “after they expressed their desires to have kids soon.”

“A lot of them are in the same age group,” he said. “And I just wanted to give them what they desired. I kept saying, ‘I can handle it.'”

Currently, Cannon is father to 12-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe, whom he shared with ex-wife Mariah Carey. He shares 6-year-old son Golden “Sagon,” 2-year-old Powerful Queen, and 7-month-old son Rise Messiah with Brittany Bell. He and Abby De La Rosa share 22-month-old twins Zion and Zillion and 5-month-old daughter Beautiful Zeppelin. He also shares his 10-month-old son Legendary Love with Bre Tiesi and a 7-month-old daughter Onyx Ice with LaNisha Cole. Cannon and Alyssa Scott just welcomed a daughter into the world 4 months ago, Halo Marie. He and Scott also shared a 5-month-old son, Zen, who passed away in December 2021 from a brain tumor.

And as for how he manages to keep the peace in a family with so many moving parts, Cannon admits he follows the lead of his partners. “I go along with it. I know that every mother is making decisions based off of love and what they believe is best for the child.”
