NHL player Erik Karlsson and his wife Melinda recently welcomed a baby girl, a little over a year after their first baby was stillborn.
Karlsson shared the news of their happy arrival on Instagram with a heartfelt note to his wife. “To my beautiful wife for doing everything in her power to bring our beautiful little baby girl in to this world, never have I met a more determined or stronger person than you. It hasn’t been easy but after the rain finally our little rainbow arrived. Love you both more than I could ever imagine.”

Erik and Melinda lost their son, Axel Michael Karlsson, last March and shared the news with a heartbreaking message on Instagram. “We feel very lucky to be Axels parents,” wrote Erik. “Even though he was stillborn, we know we will hold him again one day under different circumstances and the joy he gave us will be with us forever.”
The emotional message prompted an outpouring of love and support from Erik Karlsson’s fans. “As someone who has lost multiple babies in the womb I have so much respect for you, seeing you out there with your teammates kids and fans that are children and you just keep smiling and pushing through, it’s incredible,” one fan wrote.
The San Jose Sharks player returned to the ice last week following the arrival of his baby girl.
