The hits just keep coming for the Los Angeles Rams.
Not only is the team dealing with a 1-4 record heading into Week 7, but Conor McDermott, an offensive lineman who’s currently on IR, allegedly had his team-issued iPad stolen from his car this week.
The Los Angeles Police Department says it was stolen in a residential area while the vehicle was parked, according to TMZ and USA TODAY. No arrests have been made, but an investigation is ongoing.

While the iPad itself has worth, it’s not the device the Rams are worried about. It’s what’s on the device that they don’t want revealed, including the team’s digital playbook and practice footage.
NFL teams started replacing wire-bound playbooks with digital devices more than a decade ago. They also contain personal information specific to the player, including nutritional guidelines and schedules.
There is good news, though.
McDermott was able to wipe the device clean remotely due to Apple’s innovative technology. Whoever stole the iPad might be getting a device, but they won’t be getting any of the Rams’ secrets.
McDermott hasn’t played in a game yet this season
McDermott played four years of college ball at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) before going to the New England Patriots in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
He has spent the past seven seasons in the NFL, including stints with the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets before joining the Rams earlier this year.
Unfortunately, his 2024 campaign hasn’t started yet due to an undisclosed injury he suffered during the preseason. He was available to return on Oct. 6, but remains on the injured reserve.
The 6-foot-8, 305-pound offensive lineman has started 17 games and played in 55 games since joining the NFL. He gained national recognition after catching a one-yard touchdown pass with the Jets in 2021.
