“My baby doesn’t want to sleep in her crib: Advice? We just had a baby Friday. She slept great at the hospital in her bassinet there. The first night home in her crib she started getting more restless and wants to be held all the time. We feed her when she needs to and wants to, swaddle her, give her the pacifier. Nothing seems to work and we do not want to co-sleep. Any advice?”

Advice Summary
The community offered this mom in need a lot of great advice. Read some of their responses below.
“She’s a newborn, all she wants is to eat, sleep, and be cradled. Let her sleep whenever she falls asleep, this is not a battle that you want to fight right now. You need all the sleep you can get right now, as does she.”
“She’s a newborn, have patience. She needs your comfort. Just keep calming her or feeding her and laying her back down.”
“Don’t want to be annoying and give the one piece of advice you don’t want but… I tried everything for several months and ended up co-sleeping with my baby. It’s their natural instinct to want to be close so it wasn’t until I stopped fighting it that things finally got easier. (I was opposed too at first.)”
“Best advice I can give you is to download the Moms On Call app and follow their schedule. It worked perfectly with both of my boys. I now have a 10-week-old that sleeps through the night in his crib with no issue.”
“It’s just the adjustment period. Stick with it, it’s worth it in the long run!!”
“The first week home is the worst. Just feed, change, swaddle and lay him/her down. If he/she wakes up start over. Be consistent and stay strong mama it gets easier.”
“First time? It’s ok to feel panicked. I want you to keep in mind that she was being rocked around with you walking for 9months. That motion will help you. Same with a lullaby or Zen music. The baby doesn’t know yet about beds and the like. Just “where is mummy?”. You got this.”
