Nadya Suleman, better known as ‘Octomom’ after giving birth to octuplets in 2009, has a lot to celebrate this week – her octuplets are officially 14 years old! The lively and unique bunch of kids were never really expected to make it to this point in their lives, but here they all are as happy and blessed as can be.
In a video obtained by TMZ, the 47-year-old mother sang Happy Birthday to the octuplets, who were each holding a vegan donut with a candle in the middle – they, along with their mother, are vegan. Vegan or not, the donuts looked delicious! At the end, she asks her children if they made a wish, which they did.
She also took a group photo of her children, each holding a lettered balloon that spelled out BIRTHDAY – Suleman stood near the middle of her octuplets. Despite being just 14 years old, every single one of the octuplets is already close to matching their mother’s height – in fact, one of her daughters already has.

The eight children were conceived via in vitro fertilization (IVF) – there was a bit of controversy over her request to transfer six embryos, which was double what was recommended. She carried the octuplets for the first 31 weeks, at which point they were delivered via a scheduled Caesarean section (C-section).
When born, Nadya ‘Octomom’ Suleman decided to give the eight children biblical names. She also decided to give them their biological father’s last name – Solomon – and they each share the same middle name – Angel. Here’s a quick breakdown of the octuplets’ names, birth times, and weights:
- Noah Angel Solomon – born at 10:43 a.m., weighing 2 lb 11 oz (1.2 kg)
- Maliyah Angel Solomon – born at 10:44 a.m., weighing 2 lb 12 oz (1.2 kg)
- Isaiah Angel Solomon – born at 10:45 a.m., weighing 3 lb 4 oz (1.5 kg)
- Nariyah Angel Solomon – born at 10:45 a.m., weighing 2 lb 8 oz (1.1 kg)
- Jonah Angel Solomon – born at 10:46 a.m., weighing 1 lb 8 oz (0.68 kg)
- Makai Angel Solomon – born at 10:47 a.m., weighing 2 lb 12 oz (1.2 kg)
- Josiah Angel Solomon – born at 10:47 a.m., weighing 1 lb 15 oz (0.88 kg)
- Jeremiah Angel Solomon – born at 10:48 a.m., weighing 2 lb 11 oz (1.2 kg)
In fact, the eighth baby came as a surprise to the mother and medical team tasked with the delivery – a medical team that ran 46 people deep. They originally counted seven children. Two of the newborns needed intubation and a ventilator, while another needed extra oxygen – all were in stable condition.
In an Instagram caption celebrating their 14th birthday, Octomom praised her children as ‘some of the most loving, thoughtful, conscientious, and humble human beings I have ever known.’ “By facing new challenges in the years to come, I hope we will continue to grow as a family,” the mother added.
‘Octomom’ Sends Her Octuplets Off to Eighth Grade
Roughly five months ago, Nadya ‘Octomom’ Suleman took to Instagram to celebrate her babies’ first day of 8th grade. “Be proud of yourselves, kids for being kind, respectful, and helpful to all your fellow peers, teachers, and staff. You are exceptional role models to the 6th and 7th graders. I love you ❤️” she wrote.
She also added a side note to all the critics who might point out she didn’t include her other six children in the post. “Their older siblings did not want me to post a picture on their first day. I respect their choice, so should you,” she wrote. The post received more than 26,000 likes and received dozens of comments.

Nadya ‘Octomom’ Suleman is also a mother to six other children – twins Calyssa and Caleb, 16, Aidan, 17, Joshua, 19, Ameerah, 20, and Elijah, 21. Many people didn’t think she would make it by being a mother of 14 children, but she has, and they’re all happy – and, most importantly, together.
