‘Dang it, Moose!’: A moose ate a young boy’s pumpkin. Now people can’t stop watching his reaction

Last year, a young boy put everything he got into the pumpkin he carved for Halloween.

Excitedly, he sat it on the porch steps of his Alaska home for all to see. But what he didn’t expect was for a moose to wander by and eat it as a snack.

For SweetAKmama and her family, moose are very common to see around in Anchorage. “In the winter, when there is snow in the mountains they come down to the city. We have had moose run ins in the neighborhood, on hiking trials, city streets,” she told Mamas Uncut.

So when the moose wandered by and stole half of her son’s pumpkin, she wasn’t all that surprised, but her little boy was stunned.

His reaction to learning the moose ate his pumpkin was captured by his mom, known on Instagram as “SweetAKmama.” Now, more than 21 million people have seen the video.

“The moose ate my pumpkin,” her son said as he stared at the half-eaten fruit. “No, moose,” he scolded.

“He just ate my pumpkin,” he continued, still in shock. “Dang it, moose!”

His mom told Mamas Uncut that he “talked about the moose eating his pumpkin for a week straight!” So, of course, the only thing they could do to ease the pain was to get her little boy a new pumpkin.

And this time they learned from the past. “We put his new pumpkin at the top of the stairs so it was safe.”

And it’s what they’ll do again this year, when they carve another pumpkin. Because even a year later, the young boy still hasn’t forgotten being betrayed by the moose.

“We were driving home and saw a moose and he said, ‘Hey mom, do you remember when the moose ate my pumpkin?’” she told Mamas Uncut.

“Next weekend, we are planning on going to the pumpkin patch and carving pumpkins. He is very excited. He will probably carve paw patrol or Spiderman, those are his favorites right now.”

SweetAKmama said her son still “loves watching the video and showing his little sister.”

“He tells her, ‘The moose ate my pumpkin last time!’ I don’t think he understands how many people have seen his video or how popular he is,” she admitted.
