“During my working hours, the store is open,” she added. “He can buy TV time, Xbox time and game time. Obviously next week, we’ll start a home curriculum in place of school and this will change up a little!”

The mom posted a list of ways her child can earn Monopoly money, including reading and cleaning the house. The currency can then be used to buy things like chips, cookies, and television time. After her post went viral, Stephanie dished on her experiment with CafeMom.

“I’m so happy other moms like this idea,” said Stephanie. “I knew I’d be working from home and wanted him to have something fun, yet productive to do. This allows him to earn screen time and extra snacks instead of just sitting in front of a screen all day.”

We love that the system is also a math lesson. “He’s also learning to count out money and pay for the things he wants.” Keep the creativity coming, quarantined mamas, we can all use the brilliant ideas!
