While at Chuck E. Cheese, a mother of five was shot and killed following an argument that transpired while inside the restaurant. According to WQAD, the woman responsible for 29-year-old Eloise Chairs‘ death has since been arrested.
On the evening of October 25, Chairs and her children were at the Iowa Chuck E. Cheese when shots rang out around 7:38 p.m. By the time first responders arrived, Chairs was already unresponsive.
Mom of 5 Shot to Death During an Argument While at Chuck E. Cheese With Kids
As WQAD reports, Chairs had gotten into an argument with 24-year-old Treshonda M. Pollion’s friend. The argument between the mothers transpired after Chairs’ son’s game card was taken by another child.
During the argument, Pollion took out her gun and shot Chairs in the shoulder. The bullet it a major artery and within 45 minutes, the mother of five had bled out. She was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital.
“Eloise always put her children first,” said Christena Chairs, one of her sisters. “Eloise was shot in front of her children, blood covering them all.”
According to Christena, Eloise had given birth just 4 weeks prior to her very first daughter. Something her sister says she was particularly excited about after her first four were all boys.
Pollion is currently being held at Scott County Jail without bond, and faces charges of 1st Degree murder, WQAD reports. Chairs was originally from Chicago and that’s where her family plans to lay her to rest.
Garrolyn Vah, one of Chairs’ very close friends described the mom of five as “very charismatic, smart, funny, and very caring to the people around her.”
“How can someone be so cruel to the babies,” Van asked. “Especially the newborn?”
And those who live in the area, were also affected by the news, even though they didn’t know the victims or the suspect. As one person told WQAD, he feels for the kids who had to witness such senseless violence.
“What about the kids. That’s immediately the thought,” said John DeTaeye. “The kids that were here for whatever reasons. Those sounds of gunshots will live on with those kids for the rest of their lives, and every time they pass this place they’re gonna think of how awful that was.”
