A 39-year-old mother leapt to her death while holding her 5-year-old daughter at the start of the month in what New York police are deeming a murder-suicide.
Oksana Patchin had been attempting to get off her depression medications in the past few weeks according to her mother just after being diagnosed with clinical depression amid her recent separation from her husband.
Her mother, who identified only as Anna, revealed to the Post how Patchin had been prescribed three different drugs months ago but wanted to fight her battle against depression without the aid of chemicals.
In an effort to wean herself off the medication, she had been breaking up the pills.
The murder-suicide happened last Sunday at around 1:30 p.m. when just prior, Patchin brought her daughter to Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood. They visited with one of Patchin’s friends just before the heartbreaking incident.

Police sources say Patchin can be seen in surveillance footage on the roof of a building on West 53rd Street. In the footage, she can be seen climbing over a safety gate, the sources confirm. She then picks up her daughter, Olivia, and jumps 12 stories to the ground.
Both were quickly taken to a nearby hospital where they were pronounced dead.
Sources confirmed that Patchin did not leave a suicide note behind.

Patchin filed for divorce from her husband back in August and it was finalized in November.
A friend revealed to the New York Daily News how she was blindsided by Patchin’s actions revealing how much she had adored her daughter.
“I want people to know that this wasn’t her,” the friend shared. “She was a warm, loving person who cared about everyone.”
