Mom of ‘Missing’ 4-Year-Old Admits to Slitting Daughter’s Throat While Still on the Phone With 911 Dispatcher

Several days after a 4-year-old girl from Texas was reported “missing,” her mother has been charged with her murder. On August 24, 34-year-old Krystal Lewandowski called 911 around 11:40 a.m.

During the first moments of the call, Lewandowski told the dispatcher that Czara was missing. But when the 911 operator asked for the child’s last name, Lewandowski responded in a way no one was expecting, NBCDFW reports.

Instead of sharing Czara’s last name, the mom said, “OK, maybe I should just tell you now. OK, so last night I was advised to slit her throat.” She went on to say that after attacking her daughter, she wrapped the 4-year-old in a trash bag and placed her in a trash can.

Upon arriving at Lewandowski’s home, police detained the mom and found Czara’s body where she told the 911 dispatcher it would be, in the trash can behind their residence. As the arrest affidavit claims, the mom again admitted to killing her own daughter.

“Lewandowski made several statements about causing harm to her daughter because she was told to do so, or something worse would happen,” reports obtained by NBCDFW report. Specifics about who or what was telling Lewandowski to partake in such a heinous and horrific act were not immediately made public.

During a press conference, Officer Buddy Calzada said, “The reality of it is this is a very sad case, we have a child that has been murdered.” The homicide is still under investigation.

Following her arrest, the mom has since been charged with Capital murder of a child under 10 years old. Also inside the home and under Lewandowski’s care was her 18-month-old son. He was put in protective custody and was reported as being unharmed. It’s unclear if the toddler witnessed his sister’s murder.

Although a spokesperson for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services said they haven’t had any contact with Lewandowski over the last year, the family has a history, according to NBCDFW. The specifics of their history with DPS, however, have not been shared publicly.

However, in an interview with KDFW, a family member revealed that Lewandowski did struggle with mental health issues but that the mom seemed fine while celebrating Czara’s 4th birthday on August 13.
