New Unauthorized Autobiography of the First Lady of the United States Claims Melania Trump’s Delayed Move to DC Was About Prenup Renegotiations, Not Their Son

The newest biography written about Melania Trump is getting mixed reviews. And her spokesperson is calling it fiction.

According to USA Today, the unauthorized autobiography is called The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump. In the book, USA Today says it portrays Melania Trump—who even before she was First Lady, has been notoriously private—as an unconventional FLOTUS who picks and chooses which traditions she wants to uphold.

But it was a particular part in the book about Melania and their son, Barron Trump, that had her spokesperson speaking out and against the biography. As People reports, the book alleges that the reason Melania didn’t move into the White House immediately after Donald Trump was elected as president wasn’t because she was letting Barron finish up the school year.

The book states that it was because she was renegotiating her prenup now that her husband is President of the United States. As Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington Post reporter Mary Jordan wrote, Melania reportedly “wanted proof in writing that when it came to financial opportunities and inheritance, Barron would be treated as more of an equal to Trump’s oldest three children.”

Jordan reportedly gathered her information after conducting over 100 interviews about the First Lady, People reported. The author then went on to describe the FLOTUS as POTUS’s “single most influential adviser.”

“While her public image is of an aloof woman floating above the political gamesmanship … behind the scenes, Melania Trump is not only part of President Trump’s inner circle, but for some key decisions she has been his single most influential adviser.”

The biography also claims that Melania and Trump’s oldest daughter, Ivanka, have had some trouble with each other behind the scenes. According to People, Ivanka has allegedly been known to call her stepmother, “‘The Portrait’ because of how little she spoke and Melania has reportedly been heard calling Ivanka ‘The Princess,’ as an apparent reflection of her entitlement or privilege.”

Below is what FLOTUS’s spokesperson Stephanie Grisham had to say about Jordan’s book:

“Yet another book about Mrs. Trump with false information and sources. This book belongs in the fiction genre.” Grisham was also disappointed with another biography written about Melania last year by CNN reporter Kate Bennett even though Bennett worked with FLOTUS’s office while writing it.
