“Got a little tiny bump in the road – I got diagnosed with gestational diabetes, but it’s management and it’s ok,” the “No Excuses” star said. “And I’m healthy and the baby’s healthy. I just really have to pay attention to everything I eat.”
“It’s nice to learn so much about food and health,” she continued. “[It’s] nice to hear that so many women experienced this.”
Between 2 and 10 percent of women are diagnosed with gestational diabetes on a yearly basis, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Gestational diabetes occurs when the body isn’t producing enough insulin and, as a result, can’t effectively manage your blood sugar.
Trainer isn’t letting the diagnosis stop her from getting in the holiday spirit. The A Very Trainor Christmas singer also shared how she Sabara will be celebrating the holidays, as well as Trainor’s birthday and the couple’s wedding anniversary.
“At this point, I don’t know what we can do to celebrate, but I’m gonna be happy – and I told everyone for my birthday just give me baby stuff,” she told Today.
