Meghan McCain credits her father when it comes to her motherhood “euphoria.”
McCain posted to her Instagram on Oct. 8 to reveal her adoration for motherhood.
“Motherhood is euphoria. All of the cliches have come true and exceeded well beyond my wildest expectations,” Meghan wrote. “It is hands down the best thing I have ever done in my entire life and I am completely in awe of our daughter.”
The 35-year-old TV personality gave birth to her first child, Liberty Sage McCain Domenech, with husband Ben Domenech‘s in September. Meghan expressed in the caption:
“Having Liberty is like observing my entire heart live and exist outside of my body. She is a little wildcat ~ beautiful, strong, alert, already so full life and spirit… I only wish I had done this sooner.”
She continued thanking her husband “for giving me this gift” and also “taking the leap on this wonderful and petrifying adventure together.”
And as a daughter to the late U.S. Senator, John McCain — who lost his battle to brain cancer in August 2018 — Meghan shared how the birth of Liberty has helped her in her time of grief over his passing.
“I love our little family and I have never felt so blessed, present and grateful,” she wrote. “This is the first time since my Dad passed that the part of my heart that broke off and left with him no longer feels missing.”Â

McCain addressed the “unorthodox” nature of her and Ben wanting privacy “given the public life” she has chosen.
She did go on to thank “all who have respected my protectiveness, boundaries and privacy” and ” for all the incredible words, blessing and kindness that have been extended” to the small family.Â
She concluded, “I am beyond grateful and humbled.”
