Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green Have Decided to Separate and Green Used His Podcast to Explain Why

While the news of Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green‘s second separation is new to fans, Green has revealed that they haven’t been together since the end of 2019. While recording an episode of his podcast “…With Brian Austin Green,” the actor made a statement regarding their separation after the news was leaked to the public.

People started speculating when rumors arose that the longtime couple had officially gone their separate ways after Green shared a post on Instagram that many described as cryptic. Take a look:

The father of three wrote, “Eventually butterflies get bored sitting on a flower for too long. They start feeling smothered. It’s a great big world and they want to experience it.”

It was after that post that Green shared the newest episode of his podcast which addressed and confirmed that the rumors were true. And although he and Fox made the decision early on their relationship to never comment publicly on it, he admitted he felt the need to “clear the air.”

He and Fox are no longer a couple, but that doesn’t mean they still don’t love each other and plan to keep their family a top priority which includes 7-year-old Noah, 6-year-old Bodhi, and 3-year-old Journey.

Green first explained his Instagram post wasn’t meant to “cryptic” before diving into why they decided to separate.

As the actor divulged the start of their separation stemmed from a dream he had while Fox was out of the country shooting a movie. The dream depicted him and Fox as distant and when he woke up the next morning, he texted Fox about it—more so looking for reassurance that it was nothing more than a dream.

And that’s what he got, but when Fox came home several weeks later, his dream turned into reality. They weren’t the same, and at first, Green admitted he chalked up the weirdness between them as Fox having jet leg from filming the movie in a different timezone.

But after two weeks, things didn’t change. So Green texted Fox again.

This time he didn’t get the reassurance he was looking for. Fox felt the shift in their relationship too and they had decided that separating would be good for them. Their time apart was meant to rediscover themselves to see if being a couple is what they both really wanted.

“The reality started sinking in. Maybe this is what it is.”

And so they put their focus on the kids to make sure the process they are going through as a married couple wouldn’t negatively affect them. “I will always love her,” Green said on his podcast. “And I know she will always love me and I know as far as a family, what we have built, it’s really cool and really special.”

“So we decided, let’s make sure we don’t lose that,” Green said of how they plan on walking through the divorce process together.

“We”ll do family vacations and holidays, and really make that a focus for the kids. […] It sucks when life changes and something that you’re used to that you’ve been doing for 15 years you try and not get rid of but you change. Because here’s the unknown aspect and that’s really scary. There’s that pit in my stomach. I really don’t want Megan and I to be at odds. Because at the end of it all, she’s been my best friend for 15 years and I don’t want to lose that. And I don’t think I will but there’s a fear.”

Green also admitted that he may have gotten too complacent within their relationship just assuming that he and Fox would always be forever, no matter what. “I think that’s a pitfall that a lot of people find themselves in. They sort of expect that now that they’re married and they have kids that that part of life is done and they don’t have to work anymore at it.”

The estranged couple first wed in 2010 and filed for their first divorce in 2015 before reconciling. It was after that reconciliation that they welcomed their third child into the world.

Green also addressed the photos of Fox and rapper Machine Gun Kelly, after they met on the set of a new movie, which surfaced earlier in May. “They’re friends at this point,” he said. “I trust her judgment. I don’t want people to think that her or he are villains or that I was a victim in any way because I wasn’t.”
