In weeks and days before his passing Matthew Perry took to Instagram several times.
Several of his final posts referenced “Batman” or “Mattman” as he liked to joke. Batman, who he referenced several times in his memoir, was reportedly Perry’s favorite superhero.
He even had a room in his home dedicated to the character.
“No need to worry everybody, I’ve got the streets tonight.”
“Sleep well everybody, I’ve got the city tonight. -Mattman”
“WTF?”
“This is what I’ve had to eat today. I’m Mattman.”
“Do you know what I mean?”
“Do you understand what I’m trying to tell you? – I’m Mattman.”
In fact, his last post, which showed him sitting in his hot tub, read, “Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I’m Mattman.”
But what did Mattman mean? According to Wendy Naugle, the editor-in-chief at People magazine, Mattman had everything to do with a project Perry was working on.
According to Naugle, Perry was “writing a little script, that’s where the ‘Mattman’ reference comes from in his Instagram.” She continued to say Perry had a lot in the works prior to his passing, saying the actor was “doing very well” and had signed on to a new drama film.”
However, what exactly the script was about is unclear.
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, Perry has been laid to rest following a private ceremony attended by his family, including the cast of Friends.
The ceremony reportedly took place at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles. The Daily Mail reports the ceremony lasted about an hour.
Earlier this week, the cast of Friends has also shared a joint statement exclusively with People. The statement signed by Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, and David Schwimmer read:
“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.
In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office has released its preliminary findings in Matthew Perry’s death investigation.
After performing an initial autopsy, the LA County Medical Examiner’s Office revealed they are deferring his cause of death pending toxicology results and a further investigation. They also have not shared his manner of death.
Perry passed away at the age of 54 after reports have alleged that Perry reportedly drowned on October 28. He was discovered in his LA home.
