Matthew Perry and former fiancée Molly Hurwitz are parting ways. Perry apparently decided to call it quits and break off his engagement to the literary manager.
“Sometimes things just don’t work out and this is one of them,” Perry said, in a statement. “I wish Molly the best.”
Perry, 51, and Hurwitz, 29, began dating in 2018 and got engaged in November 2020.
“I decided to get engaged,” Perry admitted at the time. “Luckily, I happened to be dating the greatest woman on the face of the planet at this time.”
News of Perry and Hurwitz’s split comes just after the premiere of the Friends reunion, where Perry reconnected with his former costars.
Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer all made an appearance in the special which was filmed on the sitcom’s original soundstage in Burbank, California.
And while it was only the second time the stars had been together since the show’s finale 17 years prior, they had no trouble reconnecting.
“It’s funny, when we do get together, it’s like no time has passed,” LeBlanc, 53, said ahead of the special’s premiere. “We pick up right where we left off.”

“I mean, the first season, I had a major crush on Jen. At some point, we were crushing hard on each other,” Schwimmer admitted. “But it was like two ships passing, because one of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that boundary. We respected that.”
Perry agreed, saying the chemistry that still exists between them all is “magic.”
Two of the former cast mates even admitted to have crushes on each other. During HBO Max’s Friends: The Reunion special, out now, host James Corden blankly asked cast members of the hit NBC sitcom ever engaged had any off-screen romances with each other. Aniston, 52, suggested Schwimmer, 54, comment.
“I mean, the first season, I had a major crush on Jen. At some point, we were crushing hard on each other,” Schwimmer admitted. “But it was like two ships passing, because one of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that boundary. We respected that.”
