The NFL is mourning the loss of one of their own, Matt Ulrich.
On November 8, reports revealed that Super Bowl champion Matt Ulrich has passed away. He was only 41 years old.
Ulrich, who was an offensive guard, played with the Indianapolis Colts until his retirement in 2006. Ulrich was a member of the 2006 team that won Super Bowl XLI under Peyton Manning’s leadership.
Colts owner Jim Irsay confirmed Ulrich’s passing on X. “I am heartbroken to hear of the passing of Matt Ulrich. Matt was with us only two seasons but left his mark on many. Great guy, I hear he was a great dad — and he was a Super Bowl champ. My prayers to his family.”
According to People, shortly after his retirement, Ulrich cofounded DexaFit LLC, a body fat and metabolic testing company, and honed in on his favorite job, being a family man.
His biography on his company’s website makes this fact obvious. “Keeping up with my four preteen sons is the highlight of my life and keeps me on my toes,” he wrote.
At the time of his passing, Ulrich lived with his family in Bozeman, Montana. “My wife and I always dreamed of raising our family in Bozeman, MT, but 20 years ago there were far fewer professional jobs available,” his bio read.
“It warms my heart that when we delight clients and grow our business, we create new jobs here in Montana for families who have the same dreams I did.”
What caused Ulrich’s untimely passing is unclear. This is a developing report. Mamas Uncut will update this article as new information becomes available.
